//UPDATE// It looks like Take2 won in court? The project has been shut down "indefinitely" after returning for a short time with updated piracy checks. According to lead FiveM mod, NTA (lead dev) is not aloud to comment or discuss FiveM with anyone. The preliminary hearing took place late last week and we haven't received any words since then
Take Two has shut down alternate GTA V multiplayer client FiveM. They previously sent private investigators to the developers homes twice, first time to hand over a cell phone that was directly connected to T2 head offices and the second time was to deliver cease & desist letters. All signs of FiveM disappeared from the internet today and the only things that remains is the FiveM sub reddit (but all the stickied posts by devs have been removed). Before the IRC chat disappeared the lead developer said he was being sued by T2. R.I.P FiveM, fuck you T2 Also the only way custom maps is possible on GTA V is via FiveM :( https://www.reddit.com/r/FiveM/
go fuck yourself take two. you've successfully eliminated one major reason people might want the game on PC specifically.
can't have them overriding their shark card revenue i guess
maybe, just maybe, the lawsuit will result in something positive, maybe some digital rights groups will stick up for him
The whole shark card system is such horseshit. As if they didn't sell millions upon millions of copies.
I bought GTA V for stuff like this.
Oh wait, they're actually gonna try to sue? This'll be interesting.

RIP Project M 4.0 and better GTA 5 multiplayer.
As if this would get them any more money. Christ how low can you go.
can i get a refund if i bought it from gmg?
Scumbag publishers like this is ruining video games today. What happened to embracing modders, hiring modders and fixing shit officially based on mods. Modders are free publicity and beta testers. FREE LABOR LEGALLY. This is horse shit and I dont even have GTA5 on PC
I bought gta5 thinking I could mod the shit out of it, kinda like san andreas. I didn't even finish the main story yet, that's how much all this turned me away from it.
this looks fun as fuck why tthe hell take something like this away
I just hope people understand that this is Two Take's doing and not Rockstar. I think i even remember Rockstar supporting the SAMP/MTA developers at some point.
Absolutely fucking disgusting. Theres got be a way we can fight back
Rockstar should say fuck you to take 2 when take 2 runs out of money and join Bethesda.
Rockstar should say fuck you to take 2 when take 2 runs out of money and join Bethesda.
I don't think it works like that.
I don't think it works like that.
The studio is under contract. If they leave then they give up the rights to GTA and all of their other games. Not a good idea.
It's open source so it isn't going to do anything in the long run.
It's open source so it isn't going to do anything in the long run.
afaik not all of it is to prevent Rockstar from patching out things they use
lmao get bent take two
afaik not all of it is to prevent Rockstar from patching out things they use
For the most part it just calls natives that GTA uses to run scripts and the like, so all it would take is Rockstar changing how natives are called.
So now, in addition to being pretty shitty, GTA online has become an excuse to completely kill multiplayer mods of any kind. Nice.
So basically mods are banned because of shitty shark cards even though the game is full of cheated money?
I'm very indifferent about this. I've been playing GTA since my brother got me into III after it came out and been doing mods for the past year or so now for SA. I've seen Vice City, San Andreas, etc. etc. and since V came out, you could tell Rockstar halfassed the story just to give their multiplayer glory and shit. It's unfortunate to see the company that made the game that got me into video games, GTA 3, and all that fun stuff I enjoyed back then go down this route but hey, you could write this down as Rockstar, one of the great companies that fell privy to bureaucratic shit and let the players pick up the pieces. GTA modding nowadays sucks too, it isn't original like in San Andreas with Myriad Islands and that alien city thing. It's literally either map conversions from past GTA games, car conversions, or script tweaks. Good riddance, l'm sad to say.

Did the devs go on to fight it?
So basically mods are banned because of shitty shark cards even though the game is full of cheated money?
Funny thing is, it takes little to no effort to do these money hacks. It is seriously a google search away and a friend of mine who is a long time GTA Online player has been using the same build of his cheat program for about 6 months now.
Modding is literally the only reason I bought GTA5 for pc...
And then GTA6 is announced and all is [del]forgiven[/del] forgotten.
