The maneuver points to long-term strategic planning by Russia, a spokesman for the Ukrainian anti-terrorist command told ABC News.Colonel Konstantin Hivrenko, spokesman for the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, said Ukraine has “proof beyond any doubt” that Russian troops are now directly involved in the fighting. “There are now steady and large-scale deliveries of Russian hardware. Armored convoys are crossing the border day and night,” he said. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense also claims there are “uncountable” Russian tanks and artillery pieces at the Ukrainian border. Ukrainian troops have been battling against separatist rebel forces in the region since April. French President Francois Hollande called a news conference this morning saying that Russian incursions into Ukraine were “intolerable.”
On CNN they're saying that 1,000 Russian troops and several convoys of artillery, tanks, and armored vehicles are inside Ukraine. Goddamn.
And nothing will happen with the West but to just watch history repeat itself.
Putin needs to stop putting on his nostalgia goggles for the Soviet Union. He was a fucking KGB agent. He didn't exactly live the typical soviet life and that era sucked for everyone, except him.
And nothing will happen with the West but to just watch history repeat itself.
Why should we get involved? This doesn't concern us or threaten us
I don't think this thread has offered anything more than what is found in the other ones. Mainly because its been 'happening' for some while now.
If Russia were to invade Ukraine for real, they would go through Kiev in less than 10 hours. Poroshenko is just desperately trying to get West's attention to Ukraine so they'd gather up and defend it.

They just want to stop the Pro-Ukrainian offensive in the East. But I agree with the sentiment. There isn't any full-scale blitzkrieg style invasion.
If playing Civilization has taught me anything, this was bound to happen.
And nothing will happen with the West but to just watch history repeat itself.
Isn't that more the the exact opposite to what happened before World War I?
"Peace in our time!"
Why should we get involved? This doesn't concern us or threaten us
yeah just like hitler taking land from czechoslovakia wasn't a threat to any of us
This doesn't seem to be an attempt to occupy Ukraine, just to secure the separatist region. We'll see in what way things escalate when Ukranians and Russians are actually shooting at each other waving the flags of the countries they are actually representing.
They could have waited 4 days. Then it would have been perfect.
Obama didnt do shit in Syria so he wont do shit here even though Syria crossed that sacred red line that Obama said was the limit. Russias been increasing military spending since 2008 while the west has been decreasing their own. Putin playing this like a game of C&C or maybe Company of Heroes. Could be Men of War, we just don't know. Probably not the latest Men of War though, it's not so great. Actually, most likely he's playing Wargame: European Escalation

That way Russia would not only control most all oil, but a large part of the grains.
Why can't we just arm the Ukrainian Government? NATO equipment sure beats the hell out of anything the Russians have.

just released on the BBC. Its like watching a slow motion car crash.
This really has me worried, I was certain that they wouldn't invade the rest of Ukraine, but nope. They're at it, and I really think it might not end with just Ukraine.
Well at least canada is friends with china. If another world war happens I don't think the west will be much other then a giant civil war against america.
This really has me worried, I was certain that they wouldn't invade the rest of Ukraine, but nope. They're at it, and I really think it might not end with just Ukraine.
They will probably take Transnistria after Ukraine. If they go for all/most of Ukraine.

I doubt they could even finance a real occupation of all of Ukraine, let alone the rest.
Why should we get involved? This doesn't concern us or threaten us
I seem to recall a very certain prime minister with that same mindset back in 1936. Remember what happened after that?
Things are taking a turn for the worst in the region.
"It's never going to happen" [editline]28th August 2014[/editline] The Soviet and now Russian military is a highly professional force, training and expertise beats equipment most of the time.
Ah ahahaha.. Remember that botched invasion of Georgia over Ossetia? The Russian military is shit. Not organized, graceful, or even professional because of what they were doing when they were there (Looting). It's just got numbers
I seem to recall a very certain prime minister with that same mindset back in 1936. Remember what happened after that?
He bought the world enough time to mobilize and rebuild their militarizes? If Britain declared war in 1936, Europe would have probably been completely lost.
I seem to recall a very certain prime minister with that same mindset back in 1936. Remember what happened after that?
Chamberlain didn't think involvement was feasible so soon after the great depression. He wasn't totally aloof.
I seem to recall a very certain prime minister with that same mindset back in 1936. Remember what happened after that?
Yeah a few years later America showed up and won the war on 2 different sides of the globe
Chamberlain didn't think involvement was feasible so soon after the great depression. I doubt the Rooskis will stop at Ukraine, they've been eying the rest of Eastern Europe for a while now.
