WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Republicans rallied around a U.S. tax overhaul bill on Friday, with Maine moderate Susan Collins announcing her support for it after obtaining agreements for several changes, giving the sweeping legislation sufficient votes to win passage. No idea why Collins thinks the GOP will stick to their promises for future legislation, especially when that legislation would prop up the ACA. She’s either extremely gullible, or looking for a pretense to support the bill. Sorry guys, I did all I could.
How can John McCain seriously back this after all his talk about regular order with the healthcare bill

The masks have come off and the ambition is naked and in high gear. The GOP is trying to ram this through because if they don't, they'll lose their corporate masters' financial favour. After incompetent failure all year long, their masters has come knocking and they're having trouble finding a way to cram the tithe through with only 51 votes. It's up to American voters to remind them who they should be listening to.

This should be the true telling sign to anyone who thinks the republicans give a shit about you: They don't. They heard that their donors were going to close their pocket books and scrambled like mad to ram the dildo up your ass. What a mess, hahaha.
AWFUL
even my lazy ass would put more effort into crossing stuff out jesus christ are they have all low-functioning ADHD
They want this passed tonight, so they're worse than ADHD: They're unilaterally passing massive tax overhaul (including massive cuts to the rich) in a panicked rush. You know, precisely the opposite of what normally counts as good governance.
Well, I can only hope McCain comes to his senses and votes no But of course he wont, his spine was lost a long time ago
-snip- Thought the motion to adjourn was over.

I really hope someone rational snuck in a handwritten note of "Any tax changes from this bill only take effect for a single day, 8/18/18. Any congressman who votes for this bill will be exiled to Howland Island, never to return to the US."

Adjust language so that it is easier to understand?" So then the tax bill will rework the English language in the United States all because of some sidenote
I just realized: if you handed something like this into your high school English teacher for an essay assignment (just 400 times smaller, but still), you would fail and be told to hand in something fully typed. Let me repeat that. A bill that all of our taxes and a huge chunk of our economy relies on has less quality than that of a lazy 16 year old's last minute essay. Even if you're a republican you should be against this on principle. Legislation of this scale should be carefully considered and worked through, and it shows nothing but contempt for the institutions of this country to carry out this process in such a sloppy, disrespectful way. I can't fathom how anybody could call themselves a patriot and simultaneously support someone who's party to this and says 'yes, this is okay, this is correct'.
Saw this on my twitter feed. TotalBiscuit RT'd a video from Senator Tester, of Montana. Text can convey that it's nearly 500 pages long, but it's another thing entirely to see the bill being handled.

God help me.
To be fair, this is basically just a last minute essay. The only difference is this last minute essay will financially ruin the middle class and the poor.
I don't get how McCain believes this is normal order. I'm betting he's just saying fuck it cause he really wants tax cuts and he knows its not the final bill. I really hope resistance starts revving up big like it did for the ACA repeal once we see the final GOP tax bill.

I don't know why anyone was surprised that the party who's strategy was obstruction for 8 years is absolutely incapable of anything resembling governing.
This has to be deliberate obstructionism at work, because anyone with a reasonable bone in their body would allow for a thorough study of the bill by everyone voting on it. The GOP is hoping they can force this shit through by making it physically impossible for opponents to the bill to get it read.

"When I voted for the leopards eating peoples' faces party, I didn't know the leopards were going to eat my face!"
This shit is giving me an ulcer.

We'll just have to pass the bill so that you can find out what's in it.
We'll just have to pass the bill so that you can find out what's in it.
Unlock the contents of the bill by purchasing loot boxes

I paused Senator Tester's video when the hand notes were clear and crisp in the image, fullscreened it, and just stared. THe word he was specifically pointing at was outright unintelligible. I could make out other words clear as day but not the one he specifically pointed out. Edit: Brought it up again. Made out the first couple syllables, I think it's some form of attribute. I can get the 'attrib' but nothing beyond that.

Yet, he thinks the Democrats are far worse because of conspiracy theories such as Obama being a Kenyan Muslim, Pizzagate, and everything involving George Soros. Thankfully, he's not the worst kind of conservative as he supports legalizing marijuana and Snowden, and is willing to read sources from the other side of the political spectrum even if he doesn't trust them and etc, but regardless, it's pretty fucking saddening that he seems to have been brainwashed by that sort of shit for at least a decade or two.
How many republicans are needed to defect to get the bill to fail? Two? I know there's already one, what are other possible candidates that could defect? If so, how can we contact them to tell them to say this bill is AWFUL and SHOULD NOT BE PASSED.
