I wasn't sure about this guy at first but he is really winning me over.
Go Pope F! I had a good feeling about him.
Pope Francis is a Bro.

Winning you over to what, he doesn't do anything.

He represents the Catholic Church.
And if he's trying to take it in a better direction then whoop dee doo.
Why do I have the feeling that this will end bad for the pope. You tend to be assassinated when you do good stuff (like MLK, Malcolm X, JFK, some other politicians, mother theresa doesn´t count because if you read up on her she is an enormous cunt)
I keep thinking there's going to be a bunch of bishops who'll try and get him fired/excommunicated/assassinated because of his progressive views. I really hope not, but I still think it's a likely possibility.
I can't imagine what they'll all say if he comes out in support of gay marriage, which at this rate seems entirely likely.

I can't be arsed to link to them right now but I will if anyone actually cares to dig up old news, but there've been threads in SH recently about Pope Francis where the things he's said have been pissing people off. Someone (an Italian politician? someone important in Italy) warned that the Pope was at risk of being assassinated by the actual Mafia.
But then again, I think any pope who didn't consult with them and get their approval on anything that might possibly affect them (almost anything) would have to consider at least a small constant risk of assassination by the criminal underworld.
Unrelated to DaCommie1's comment, I have a theory that Pope Francis is the second coming of Jesus, with amnesia about His true nature. And if not, he's certainly doing a hell of a lot better a job of following Jesus's teachings than some nazis we could mention.

Didn't really need to use the term "nazi" but yeah. I've always believed Christianity should revolve around the parts of the Bible about Christ, not the other nonsense ramblings from other people, and Christ himself was a very cool and accepting dude. This pope is really focusing on putting the Christ in Christianity.
The article is from May. I remember hearing about this earlier in the year.

My nickname for Benedict is Nazi Pope because of his history, but I don't think he actually acted like a nazi during his short tenure on the golden throne of... what is apparently Old Catholicism, now, if Francis gets his way.
I go to a Catholic high school. In my sophomore year we had a very dumb teacher who did not know how to teach theology. The gist of one of her lectures was anyone can do good deeds, but if they don't do it through religion (Christianity) then it's not really a good deed. That just made me angry. That was the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Good thing the school fired her last year, 'cause she did not know what she was talking about in any of her classes.
Pope Francis seems to be a cool guy.
