• Laptop is completely dead.

A few days ago, my laptop completely died on me. It won't power up, the fan makes no sound, no lights show and the monitor is completely black. Tried using a different, compatable power cable, both with and without the battery in, to no effect. Tried leaving it alone for a day or two before retrying - nothing nada zip. From what I've read online, it looks like the motherboard has fried. Is this the likely case? If so, is it worth getting it repaired, or has it moved on to silicon heaven? The laptop itself is about two and half years old, and is a Medion, if that's any help. Thanks for your time and any help you can spare guys.
if the motherboard was fried it's a fairly small chance that nothing would work, most of the time fans would power up before shutting down again, this makes me think the pin that's supposed to go inside of the hole in the plug is bent or broken, so it hasn't got the power to turn on anything.
The pin is intact in the socket, and the battery itself is fully charged, but I guess this is something else to look at.
Have you tried removing the battery and unplugging it for a few hours?
Well, in a slight improvement, the charging light now turns on when I plug the cable and battery in - but when I press the power button, the light turns off for a few seconds, then comes back on, and there's not even a whisper of sound or any other activity from the laptop And IpHa, I left it unplugged with no battery for over a day, to no avail. :frown: But thanks anyway.
