So I recently decided i wanted to be awesome. So I want a unique domain name. Not sure what it is going to be. Maybe just my first name + last name .com. Anyway, what would be the best way to do this? Does it cost money? How do I do this? Where can I do this? Can I manage my unique mail accounts with Gmail? Thanks in advance.
You've got to buy the domain name, I would reccomend name.com or namecheap.com then you've got set it up using google apps, heres a tutorial with the free .co.cc domain; Here
10$ for the domain. Then go into google and register your domain to the mail server. Use google for help
Godaddy.com has very cheap domains, especially if you use any of the coupon codes flying around. All you have to put up with is the horrible website when buying it.

Name.com allows you to buy a .com for about $10 a year. From there, it only takes a few clicks to setup Google Apps onto that domain name. Google Apps basically allows you to use Google services like Docs and GMail with your custom domain.

About $7 each.
And then subscribe to Google Apps, and setup your hosts records for google verification, then setup google mail on your new domain, and you're good to go. EDIT: Wow, should've clicked reply sooner. sorry.

I bought 2 from godaddy at £0.67 (about $1) each. They had that price for over a year.
OP I can help you set the whole thing up for $20. PM me if you're interested.
