I'm fairly sure there are places that allow people to take unwanted children to be cared for and that allow other parents to adopt theses children. I guess someone forgot to inform this person about such a place.

Unwanted teen pregnancy in an ultra conservative family. If you acknowledge being pregnant you might be beaten to death. Even if you aren't your life is utterly fucked. Not to say that this is the case here, but it's certainly a common enough occurrence.

Much better known for people generally just being shit heads.

It just makes me wonder how many untold thousands of children were never found.

As outdated as it sounds, it unfortunately still happens usually due to religious reasons and the victims are usually women and although Islam is the religion most normally associated with it nowadays I think it wouldn't be too far out to say that extremists of other religions including christianity would be willing to murder their own child or other family member if they "defiled" or "broke away" from the beliefs of their parents or just simply participated in practices that they didn't approve of.
