A giraffe kissed a dying zoo worker goodbye in a heartbreaking moment that has gone viral.
Mario Eijs, 54, had spent 25 years cleaning the animal's enclosure and doing odd jobs at a Dutch zoo. His last wish was to be taken to the Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to pay a final visit to the co-workers and animals he loved.
The visit was organized by the Ambulance Wish Foundation, which offers free transport to terminally ill patients.
Eijs was wheeled around the zoo in his hospital bed and several giraffes became curious when he was brought to their inside enclosure.
''Mario got a lick on his nose after a lot of snuffles,'' Foundation worker Olaf Exoo said in a written summary of the day.[/quote]

"Damn, these humans taste much better than those leaves."
Kinda makes you feel better about the world, in a way.
Blijdorp?! I always go there, it is like 20 minutes away.
I am happy that they gave him this goodbye.
what was wrong with him?
incredibly unfitting music in that video.
Wish this would have transpired in Copenhagen zoo :v:

why disagrees? everyone dies and most of us aren't badass enough to cultivate relationships with exotic animals strong enough that they show us direct affection on our way out.. it totally makes me feel better about the world.
i'm pretty sure the giraffes just wanted the food and didn't actually give a shit about the dying human

This story is just as much about what the animals "did" for the dying man as what his friends and family did for him. Heartwarming nonetheless.
Giraffes are fucking cool, they really seem like one of those mythical extinct animals (they probably will be in the near future...)
I wish a animal would kiss me it's my goal since no humans want to
