does that mean EA now owns the IP? or that they have the publishing rights to it?
I can't see this being a franchise unless they at least try to develop a story worth telling, otherwise it'd be nothing more then a thinly veiled model/map/etc refresh for $60. They need justification for a sequel. even COD isn't that blatant. They at least 'expand the story*' *term used liberally in this context
I bought the game dirt cheap with the season pass through Mexico so I'm happy to have more Titanfall coming my way over the years.

Let's hope that the inevitable Titanfall 2 gets a better campaign.
And here I was, thinking that wasting 60€ in a game would be OK if they updated, added new things and keep the game alive for years. I even tolerated the occasional DLC with maps and stuff, but now it looks like we will having a new titanfall every 2 years. WP EA

Dragon's Dogma 2 was confirmed less than 3 months after the game's initial launch and then they went and released Dark Arisen which was fuckhuge.

And that means it turns into a yearly release that does little to renew itself and ends up being canned when the series does less money

They did choose a setting that lets them handwave all sorts of technology. I mean, the reason Titanfall became big was because of everything that made its gameplay fundamentally different from CoD'n'co, it was the mechs and jetpack parkour. They might be able to get away with a lackluster sequel, but I wouldn't be *that* confident in their market position. Everyone's currently waiting for them to screw up big time and turn out to be nothing more than a one-hit-wonder.

Let the milking begin.
I just want bigger maps and more types of titans with more fleshed out mechanics
Wow, people in this thread really need to learn the difference between owning a company and having publishing rights to a game. For example, EA owns the Publishing Rights to the Orange Box (which is developed by Valve) on consoles. In comparison, Dice is directly told what to do by EA because they are owned by EA. This situation is an example of the former, not the latter.
Orange Box for consoles is probably the worst example you could've used if you were going for the "It's not so bad..." thing
Then how about Double Fine? They've been published under EA, THQ, Microsoft, Sega, Sony, independent, and even WB. Point is, EA doesn't own Respawn, they only have the publishing rights. Also, the reasons for The Orange Box not being updated on consoles has nothing to do with EA and everything to do with Microsoft and the limitations of the systems.
I just want bigger maps and more types of titans with more fleshed out mechanics
I only played the beta but Fracture felt almost too big. Are all the maps in the full game smaller than it? I keep seeing people ask for larger maps but on Fracture I could go 30+ seconds without seeing another player.
Erm, lets focus on getting the DLC and Patches out before we make a sequel.

As it is right now there's a lot of unrealized potential in the concept (not to mention it didn't come to Playstation), it would be foolish to not toss more money into it and make more based around it. But yeah, since this isn't Valve, if they want to do an actual sequel people are gonna want a lot more than just new maps and guns.
I just want bigger maps and more types of titans with more fleshed out mechanics
I'd rather see that in Titanfall 1 rather than make an entire sequel just for that.
