Why
Ok, I'm in the minority that actually liked and enjoyed the game, despite that it was a mediocre Thief game. And they are making a movie of it?
Why not a movie of Dark Project instead?
man that character design looks goofy af
give him a neck, square
No actor or director have been announced as yet, but I reckon they should go with Leonardo Dicaprio for Garrett - surely this will net him that second Oscar win.
A little late there, he has one now.
That game was absolute wank to play, so please don't.
:speechless:
of all the video game franchises out there, why make a movie out of such a "meh" game?

Too bloody right. Dark Project and Metal Age were more or less the pinnacle of that series, with Deadly Shadows being a neat sort of midpoint, and the main continuity of the original trilogy had such an interesting world.
But Thief 2014, blandest of all the instalments? Surely there's better material to work with? I mean, sure, maybe they could do a rewrite of the slapdash story we got in the game, since it almost felt like there was something there. But I do not have high hopes for this movie, despite the movie kick that Ubisoft is on at the moment.
At this point, they might as well have Russell Crowe play the Thief-Taker General, complete with an overly dramatic singing voice that is completely out of place. Because FUCK.
Though I will say, one good thing I took away from Thief 2014 was inspiration. Inspiration to try and make a Thief-like that was better (gameplay-wise) than 2014, and wave its swarthy, mechanically-satisfying donger in the face of Square Enix. Even if Arkane is making Dishonoured 2, which I hope is gonna be smashing, I want to throw my hat in the ring some day, even if it's half a decade late to the party.

The original games wouldnt make for a horrible trilogy of films, but GOD as a HUGE fan of the original thief games you probably cant even believe how saddened I am by this news.
Of any of the games in the series, why a movie about the worst one?
Will he jump in the movie?
Will he jump in the movie?
Only if the audience presses the spacebar in unison.
Really? The worst Thief game?
I wouldn't want a Thief movie even if it was based on one of the good games in the series.

In general it would be a challenge to adapt, thats for sure.

It'd be a challenge not even worth undertaking. All of the greatest strengths of the Thief games are ludic, not cinematic.
would have been cooler to see a CGI animated Dishonored movie
Thief reboot as a game might not have been too good, but from what I played (Like, a little after the tutorial / opening chapter before I stopped), it seemed more geared towards a cinematic experience in the first place.
It's still a cool enough artstyle / setting, and they can potentially expand on the characters as well so there's a chance the movie won't be utter shit.
I thought Thief had some enjoyable gameplay mechanics that made me like it enough to 100% it, but the writing was without doubt weak as fuck. Even if the story were better than classic Thief, a movie still would be uncalled for.
