Yesterday as I was working on my final mathematics project at school, I decided to save it and then send it off to myself. However, I simply saved instead of saving as and when I closed it, I could no longer open it. The file had apparently been saved to the E: drive. To understand why, I have to explain that the school uses internet explorer so the when prompted to save or open the attachment file in an email; I chose open for some odd reason. I could not find the files anywhere and I cannot access any temp files without administrator permission and since it was 6:00 pm everybody had left.
So, I'm wondering if my file will actually be found anywhere within the temp files of microsoft word or if half of my project is now forever gone? This may all seem confusing but I desperately need some help and google isn't helping with my problem.

P.S The school laptops use Windows 7 Basic
