[t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/99/PCU_Gerald_R_Ford_%28CVN-78%29.jpg[/t] NEWPORT NEWS, VA. — The Navy’s newest aircraft carrier is set to be christened in early November.Susan Ford Bales is scheduled to smash a bottle of American sparkling wine across the ship’s hull on Nov. 9 to christen the Gerald R. Ford. She is the sponsor of her father’s namesake ship. Huntington Ingalls Industries says Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan will serve as the keynote speaker at the christening ceremony. Construction of the Ford began in November 2009 at Newport News Shipbuilding. Gerald Ford, Zumwalt, and those littoral combat ships from a few years ago. US Navy fleet of the future. Can you unthumb that pic? It doesn't show how truely tall and huge the ship is. It's 250 fucking feet tall and a third of a kilometer long. [editline]31st October 2013[/editline] I am always confused at pricing. For 13.6 billion we can make super-super carriers. For the same price we could buy maybe enough planes for it.
what a cute little boat
what a cute little boat
Look at those little people.
Masters of the Sea.
One of these is to be named the USS Enterprise in the future. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Enterprise_%28CVN-80%29
One of these is to be named the USS Enterprise in the future. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Enterprise_%28CVN-80%29
Yeah the old USS Enterprise was decommissioned earlier this year. They're bringing it back though.
One of these is to be named the USS Enterprise in the future. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Enterprise_%28CVN-80%29
Why always Enterprise? Why not give up and find another name?
Why always Enterprise? Why not give up and find another name?
Because the Enterprise is one badass motherfucker, thats why.
Why always Enterprise? Why not give up and find another name?
Tradition. Even more so with US aircraft carriers after the Yorktown class' Enterprise.
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
Its hardly a religious affair.
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
Boat christening barely has anything to do with religion anymore, think of it as christmas.
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
will you eve stop
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
It's like celebrating its completion more than anything else. Letting it out of dry dock is its birth so to speak as well.
Also free enterprise is a proud American tradition.
what's really cool about this, is its reactors have been built from the ground up to generate electricity instead of steam (big difference). this thing has enough power to produce jet fuel from sea water and CO2, run the large city that it is, push it's ass through the water faster than any other carrier, and use fucking lasers! all at the same time [editline]31st October 2013[/editline] too bad the name was a very bad idea' since as you know, the first ship in the line is the name of the ship class..... this is the Ford Class aircraft carrier....... which means it'll leak oil all over the garage floor
I wish the navy would hurry up with my paperwork; these ships look awesome.
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
u r dum if you actually think this
u r dum if you actually think this
Then rate him dumb and move on Beautiful ship. I hope all the semen have fun on the poop deck (I'm sorry, that was horrible)
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
*tips fedora* boo fucking hoo
Also free enterprise is a proud American tradition.
Or just naming ships "Enterprise".
Or just naming ships "Enterprise".
the 4th of these is slated to be the next big E
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
You should see what it looks like when a boat gets circumcised. Oy vey.
ships are awesome
this thing has enough power to produce jet fuel from sea water and CO2
Is that possible?
still trying to ram their religious agenda down our throats by "christening" our boats, i see.
It's hardly "your" (collective) ship.
what a cute little boat
Thank god we got two classes of carriers that dwarf you're entire navy.
The first American ship to be called the Enterprise was built in 1775. There have been 8(soon to be 9 with the new carrier) ships called Enterprise with 7 of them being USS Enterprises.
