Good, glad they clarified this.
This seems totally fair. I'm really glad to hear that Back to Karkand isn't already on the disc.
Who gives a shit about these whiners? At least the anti-Origin people have a reasonable claim.
This calls for that rageguy thing where everything goes better than expected. Sadly, I'd probably get banned for that. Still, principle related.
Who gives a shit about these whiners? At least the anti-Origin people have a reasonable claim.
if you're that annoyed about it don't buy the fucking game. lol @ all the dumbs because you people are fussy over a distribution system.
So there is a way to obtain all of that stuff without having to pay a penny more. Much better. I still have doubt about getting it if it isn't on Steam. I'd have to drive to the next city over for a PC disk if the only online alternative is 'origins'.
Its not day one DLC? The game isnt even released yet idiots, of course its day one DLC.
if you're that annoyed about it don't buy the fucking game.
As a long-term fan of the Battlefield series, as one that bought 1942 the day it came out, I shouldn't be forced to use EA's shitty attempt at competing with Steam. Convenience is the key factor here.
Its not day one DLC? The game isnt even released yet idiots, of course its day one DLC.
Supposedly those DLCs are not going to be released on day one, but much later.
Its not day one DLC? The game isnt even released yet idiots, of course its day one DLC.
This. Doesn't make sense. At ALL [editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
Supposedly those DLCs are not going to be released on day one, but much later.
Interesting.
ok now get this game on steam and were good
Now everyone will praise EA and act all forgiving when they probably planned this from day one.
Its not day one DLC? The game isnt even released yet idiots, of course its day one DLC.
It doesn't come out on the first day therefore it is not day one DLC pay attention private pyle
ok now get this game on steam and ere good
Still not happy with them selling map packs. We'll get more packs like Back to Karkand which won't be free. Should've given us modding tools :saddowns:
Boycott should still continue, the fact you have to buy B2K pack if you don't pre-order is just fucking dumb.
The map is still there, what's up with that?
Boycott should still continue, the fact you have to buy B2K pack if you don't pre-order is just fucking dumb.
You guys are viewing it from the wrong angle. It's like if you pre-order you get a free coupon for the Expansion. That's just generous, not dumb.
You guys are viewing it from the wrong angle. It's like if you pre-order you get a free coupon for the Expansion. Not buying BF3 unless its on steam not gonna deal with EA's origin shit.
Not buying BF3 unless its on steam not gonna deal with EA's origin shit.
Then buy it at retail?
Then buy it at retail?
It'll probably ask him to install Origin. Steam did that with my retail copy of 'Empire: Total War'
I'm not rating this winner. The fact that you have to pay extra for not one but FOUR new maps unless you preorder their way is worth complaining about.
Then buy it at retail?
I really want Steam integration. I've always really hated BF's shoddy friend/online system.
It's fine if it's not exclusive to pre-orderers, but it just amazes me that I haven't seen many people whine about the fact you actually have to pay for content after the release. You know, how people talk of the good old days and no paid DLC. But it's EA! It's fine!
Still not happy with them selling map packs. We'll get more packs like Back to Karkand which won't be free. (New weapons, vehicles, ect) And they've already explained why they can't really make modding tools.

Sounds a bit like backpedaling to me, but I'm OK with this. Still wanting it on Steam.
The map pack pretty much confirms no mod tools (other than the bs they put out) I don't know if I want to get this, I was really hoping to play the bf2 maps remade but I don't want to pay for something that should be in the game on release
Who gives a shit about these whiners? At least the anti-Origin people have a reasonable claim.
What's wrong with Origin? It's just a way for EA to consolidate their fragmented as shit account structure and rejuvenate their shitty EA Store/EADM. [editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
And they've already explained why they can't really make modding tools.
they're bullshitting, they probably thought they'd make more from PC map pack sales than from people buying the game to try out mods if the map packs sell terribly, or when they've finished releasing them they might decide to release the mod tools [editline]17th June 2011[/editline]
It's fine if it's not exclusive to pre-orderers, but it just amazes me that I haven't seen many people whine about the fact you actually have to pay for content after the release. You know, how people talk of the good old days and no paid DLC. But it's EA! It's fine!
BC2: Vietnam was a case of good multiplayer DLC. There was a lot of new content and none of the maps or content was obviously ripped from the original game. That makes it better than a CoD or Crysis 2 map pack where the assets are recycled horribly, there's no new gameplay elements and sometimes the maps are even ripped directly from the SP. Hopefully they go with the former type of DLC rather than the latter, and release simple extra maps for free like they did with BC2.
