Hating my job - General - Facepunch Forum

Hey guys. About 6 months ago I got my first job (at a cinema), It was fantastic I was meeting new people, earning money, getting discounts etc. In the past 3 months all I have been getting is midnight shifts on Saturdays that are long as fuck, this would usually be a good thing because longer shifts = more money but this is not the case for me, the reason I get long shifts is because i'm the least paid staff member, the reason i'm the least paid is because i'm the youngest. If I was to ask for a different shift they would say something along the lines of, "WHY BOTHER HAVING A JOB IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WORK!?". I also discovered after asking around that at least 80% of other staff members have NEVER had a midnight shift before, why cant they share it around a little? All my friends go out on Saturday so that kind of defeats the reason I work, so I can afford to do things. (along with my film making hobbie) The managers have also banned discounted movie tickets because other people turn up late for work. I have alright managers and good co-workers so I really shouldn't be complaining and most people are friendly. Keep in mind this is my first job ever so maybe i'm just raging about nothing. Anyway, now I have that off my chest I should be off to bed now, I have an 11 hour shift tomorrow. Didn't really want to sound like an asshole, but face[U]punch[/U] is the upmost worse place to get advice. Just tell them to go fuck themselves if they're being complete assholes. They're using you because you aren't taking a stand. Edit: lolfixed

dont complain about your job, just ask for a earlier shift. you're entitled to ask for another shift. say you have family stuff to do, if anything. how old are you? if you're the youngest, why are you working a late shift? you wouldn't be complaining about age if you were 18+, so i'm guessing you're like 15-16

I fucking love my job. I start the day off with a huge line of speed, then bus for an hour listening to some sick tunes, arrive at my work downtown where I meet up with my buddies, and then we all jump into the Seal Hunter. Then we drive to some town, and go to each house selling driveway oil sealing. I make ~$500 on a quiet weekday, working about 6 hours. Then we drive back to the garage, and stop at the beer store on the way.

Quit your job. Seriously. Go up to the manager and say I want less shitty shifts, or pay me what I deserve for the shitty shift working. If they are like "No." then quit. Not hard. If it makes you feel any better go apply for another job. If you get offered one then you can go in to your manager and have full confidence that you will be leaving with a job somewhere.

Quit if you don't like it. Other people would be glad to even have a job in this economy. I've filled out every application you could think of and can't get a job here. (also I have a college degree as well as several years retail job experience)
