Not really an experiment.
Half-Life 2 was supposed to be released 1 month after being announced but it got delayed due to getting leaked.
I'm not excited for this game, mainly because of the community it would inherit.

oh, it will be. However, it's going to feature valve's biggest clothing store ever.
It's not going to be F2P imo. They need to make a return on their investment, and Valve aren't fans of selling gameplay. I don't think a robes store would make as much money as selling the game would.

IIRC, Valve had internally delayed the game and after it was leaked all the fans discovered that they had delayed it and didn't say it publicly.

Game isn't even released and they still bring out a million dollar tournament. Seems it will be e-sport supported alot.

I'm not really all that excited for it either, although mainly because I'm just not a fan of these sort of games.
Chances of it being the first Valve game I won't own is very likely.

Before Dota 2 was announced all the games we thought Valve had left were Portal 2 and Ep3. So they could very easily be making something else like a new Counter Strike or new IP.
