In Alpha, the player isn't told what to do or given any back-story, but it is clear to those familiar with the Bible that the game takes place in a world much like it was shortly after the Fall. The land is vast and unspoiled by human settlements, but death has entered the world. During the day you gather resources to build shelters and craft supplies. When night falls, demons appear and try to kill you. At first glance the game doesn't appear overtly Christian, but the more you play the more it become apparent that the goal of its creator (a programmer named Notch) was to teach Biblical wisdom.

During the day, lambs frolic around the countryside, reminding us of the Lamb of God. Many lessons from the Bible are delivered to the player through intuitive immersion: For example, the player learns through trial and error to build his shelter on solid rock instead of falling sand, much as we should build our lives on the rock of Jesus. This is the same lesson taught in Matthew 7:24-27, however by engaging the player in actively experiencing the parable, the game subtly and effectively reaches Secular gamers who might otherwise reject explicit witnessing.

Demons burst into flame when exposed to daylight (Job 24:17). In the beginning, the player is fearful of darkness, but soon learns that light provides safety and his fears subside: "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1). The Biblical themes of solidness of rock and righteousness of light are central to Minecraft's gameplay. Even the most Secular of gamers will have these values instilled in them effortlessly without realizing they are learning the Gospel.
http://www.objectiveministries.org/zounds/review-minecraft.html I raged so hardcore there is lots more to read and trust me serious Christian shit is goin' down in minecraft
good thing I don't like minecraft so I won't have to put up with this shit

This is a pretty cool interpretation to tell you the truth, but they seem to be putting words in Notch's mouth.
Oh lord...
Uhhhh ok then...
Hah, get it?
Just because the stories in the bible are based on basic survival instincts and logic (build things on rock not sand, light is good etc) doesn't mean that anything else based on it comes from those stories. Biblical stories took these things from other ones anyway. Technically Minecraft is all about teaching basic human logic and survival instincts.
What the christ my automerge, heh.
Please explain the meaning of Creepers They are not of this god
This is why we can't have nice things. Fucking Christians.
i think they onto something: my new save had a cross in the air above my spawn just... floating there
Creepers are in the Bible :downs:
IMHO I think they're trolling. Oh please be trolling.
This game has night and day therefore the game is teaching the players "Biblical wisdom". :downs:
Are you people seriously not getting the point?
HEY GUIZ WHUR CAN I FND GOD???????? :downs:

You need a diamond pickaxe to mine god. 777'th :v:
Oh yeah, this actually reminds me, I was joking with my friends after I built a tower that was supposed to reach into the heavens. I opened up my save to work on it, and it was just gone. None of the mobs were speaking Spanish or anything cool like that though.
I punch wool off of sheep, brutally murder pigs with axes AND light forests on fire. so, that's what christians do? epic! lets tell others to axe pigs, punch sheep and start forest fires! :buddy:
wait a sec he said the "alpha" in the minecraft title was a biblical reference. the "alpha" part has to do with the stage of development. this is a case of reading into something too much
