Given the influx of recent questions re supplements (like my favorite "will creatine make me lose my gains??"), and to prevent any more people buying terrible kitchen sink supplements in the hopes of getting HYOOGE, I thought I'd whip up my personally recommended protocol and talk briefly on each constituent and the benefits. DISCLAIMER: by following this, I am not responsible for any adverse stuff that happens to you when you fuck it up* (*you are literally retarded if you think any of these will harm you) General/consistent use: Fish oil - this one is literally a no brainer. People who aren't even heavily involved in fitness are supplementing fish oil. I'm not going to talk about this in detail, because the amount of studies across the board showing the benefits of fish oil are astounding, and talking about fatty acids takes a whole page of sperging. I'm just going to leave it at this: If you have cash to spend on tubs of overpriced whey protein, but don't have cash to buy a tub of fish oil capsules, you are literally retarded. Fish oil benefits are wide ranging and proven: brain function, cardiovascular health, fat loss, muscle building, etc. Creatine monohydrate - CM is the most researched sports supplement ever. That's not hyperbole, it really is. Again, given the amount of easily accessible information on how it works, I'm not going to talk about it in great detail. http://www.building-muscle101.com/how-does-creatine-work.html - the information presented in this article is a tiny bit archaic, and leaves out a lot of information, but it does a fine job at explaining the basics of how creatine supplementation works. The body of research behind creatine is amazing, and shows benefits in not only sports performance, but also neurological function and health. At 5 grams a day, Monohydrate is very cheap, and very effective, and very safe (unless you literally have renal disease, in which case taking supplements is the least of your concerns). Zinc - a LOT of people are zinc deficient, those of us who exercise a lot are even more likely to be zinc deficient. Zinc is responsible for a wide variety of health functions, but most important to us, is that fixing a zinc deficiency will optimize testosterone production. Furthermore zinc has an indirect effect on muscle building by improving the quality of sleep. Adressing gains myth: "will I lose all my gains once I come off creatine?" No. For starters, you are never really "off" creatine, it exists in your body as we speak. As your creatine levels return to baseline (this takes like 2 weeks or more), you can expect a very slight loss in performance, and slightly less water retention in the muscle tissue. However muscle built while supplementing creatine is exactly the same a tissue built while not supplementing. So no, you will not lose your gains. Vitamin D3 - Vitamin D3 is perhaps the most mistakenly pushed aside component of an athlete's arsenal. To get a good insight, read this article: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_nutrition/d_is_for_doping . You'd be surprised just how many people are vitamin d deficient in this age of sun scare, I certainly was. Optimizing your vitamin d levels will go a LONG way to optimize your testosterone production, more than this, vitamin d has been shown to have considerable anti-aromatase activity. Aromatase is the enzyme which converts testosterone to estrogen, and in men, this is the major substrate of how estrogen is made. So by lowering aromatase activity, you are lowering estrogen and increasing testosterone production. Optional/cycled use: Panax Ginseng - You've probably seen me mention this in the energy drinks thread before, and it's an interesting little plant. Panax ginseng, is chinese ginseng and the distinction is very important, as the different strains of ginseng are all considerably different from one another. Panax ginseng is a pretty strong stimulant, selective anti inflammatory, can improve blood flow and has been shown to increase mental performance and reaction time over long periods. It MAY improve testosterone levels through increasing Luteinizing Hormone, as to how great of an effect it has in healthy young males, I have no idea and there is no clinical studies in that regard either. At any rate, it wouldn't hurt. Pomegranate juice - I didn't stutter bitch, Pomegranate juice. Why? Well apart from being p. tasty, Pomegranate has somewhat recently received a lot of attention in cancer research, not only because it has very high antioxidant properties, but it has also been shown to have considerable anti-aromatase activity, mainly as a result of the ellagic acid found in pomegranate. Again, as I said above, anti-aromatase are basically anti-estrogen. Regular consumption of real pomegranate juice may lower estrogen levels in men enough that you have a boost in testosterone, but not enough that you suffer from low estrogen side effects. BSN's N.O Xplode - This is probably the only pre-workout supplement I'll wholeheartedly recommend and I've tried a lot of them. Jack3d gets all the attention and I have no fucking idea why, because Jack3d is a terrible product. N.O Xplode mixes well, tastes great and is definitely a strong stimulant without the nasty jittery effect of Jack3d. Ignore the bullshit about nitric oxide products and increasing "teh pump bro", and it does fuck all to help you build muscle (besides improved energy levels of course), but if you have a high workload or work a job with exhausting hours, N.O Xplode is definitely a good product purely as a pre-workout stimulant. Don't use the NT version because the NT version sucks. Dosing protcol: This is my own personal protocol, you may need to adjust certain components based on your own personal factors. But for the most part this will apply across the board Fish oil - the fish oil I buy is a generic health brand one, and is 1000mg/1g soft gels. 5 x 1g a day Creatine monohydrate - 5g post workout/day. You can "load" creatine if you want, by taking 10g a day for 2 weeks, but there really is no need or major benefit from doing so. Zinc - 25mg a day or every other day Vitamin d3 - 4000-6000 IUs a day. If you already legit get a good amount of sunlight/look like you just got off the set of jersey shore, I'd knock this down to 2000 ius a day. The problem is there is no agreed upon number for vitamin d3 supplementation. Compared to some sources however, I feel 4000-6000 ius a day is a pretty conservative number while still having good benefit. Panax ginseng extract - 451mg a day, cycled 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off Pomegranate juice - I have no fucking idea! Seriously, I don't have any data to suggest a rough figure. I'm in the process of doing more reading on it, as it stands, I have no idea how much juice you'd have to consume to get a benefit out of it, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to consume a glass or two on a daily basis. N.O Xplode - follow the instructions on the tub. You will need to assess your tolerance, and usually one scoop is enough. However, as caffeine is an active ingredient in it, you're tolerance will probably rapidly increase. But for the record I never used more than 3 scoops at a time. You may like to cycle this on and off, but I can see no evidence for harm from using pre-workout or even a daily basis. So there you have it, all of this shit above actually works for the purposes described and will benefit you whether your goal is to get hyooge or shredded or to run faster in a straight line or w/e.

I am trying to find the name, because it's not banned like anywhere, and sounds like it owns, so I'm going to do that shit. [editline]4th November 2011[/editline]
Info on ephedrine?
Nervous system stimulant that is very similar to methamphetamines only not nearly as strong and lacks certain effects unique to meth. It shot to popularity in the famed "ECA stacks" (stacked with caffeine and aspirin) as an all in one product that gives excellent stimulation and all around fat burning properties while also significantly blunting hunger. For some retarded reason it became a controlled substance via FDA recommendation in the US, and most other countries have followed suite, because the FDA always knows what they are talking about ofc :downs: . It was pretty well regarded, but IMO not a big loss in any way. Side effects weren't uncommon, mostly happening from people dosing too aggressively. If it's any indication, soldiers were using ephedrine products during the Iraq invasion to stay mentally alert during periods where they had no or very little sleep.
It's the thought of the injection being scary is what makes it scary. Relax and start stacking test bitch
how 2 learn self-intramuscular injection method?
Didn't a bunch of young people with healthy hearts start having heart attacks all of a sudden on ECA stacks?
No, media scare. Some people who overdosed experienced mild tachycardia, which isn't pleasant in itself but is no where near an actual heart attack.
I heard it can cause insomnia
I heard it can cause insomnia
Fuck yes it can. Caffeine can too. I've had it before from drinking too many energy drinks one night. I was up till 7AM one morning and tired as shit, but could not sleep no matter how long i lay there with my eyes closed. It was fucking annoying.

They are sort of right. Creatine supplementation does increase DHT levels significantly. But sorry to crush kid's hopes and dreams of packing an anaconda in their pants when they finish puberty; the likelihood of this increasing your penis size or height significantly is pretty low. DHT is one factor among many, and unless you have micropenis chances are your DHT production is fine. Since people are going to read this and go "welp any help is better than no help!!" here's what else increased DHT can accelerate: Male pattern baldness and benign prostate enlargement.
benign prostate enlargement.
At least something is getting bigger :v:
