This is, or rather was, a BYOND singleplayer-and-multiplayer game that's basically an MMO-esque rip on things like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, and it seems they went standalone. Probably full of memes/references to NES games of the era, judging by the 'dangerous to go alone' quote in one of the screenshots. They used to have a subscription thing, separate from BYOND's, that gave you access to a lot of features and benefits that were locked off otherwise, but I guess they changed that now that it's selling for $15.
