• Steam Confirmed for Linux Support.

As far as Linux support goes: people need Wine to run most games. Since April 26th, Ubuntu has been uploaded with non-wine screen caps of Left 4 Dead 2. I am surprised that searching did not show a thread about this. "This is on an Ubuntu 11.10 installation with the AMD Catalyst Linux driver.

So, what's the hold up? According Larabel, Valve has been working on Linux support for quite a while but a lack of structure meant things moved kind of slowly until Gabe Newell got involved with the project.
Now that Gaben has started working on the Linux project we can expect a much sooner release for Linux. Obviously that means Valve games will have Linux support. Ubuntu/Debian will most likely be first; as they are the most popular and share installation packages. Hate to burst your bubble but take a look at the date on the article. Look hard enough, you'll find something on here.

I know it is a little late but I just asked many Steam friends and they are unaware of this. Especially the fact that Gabe Newell is on the project. If I were to point out the Job opening for the Linux engineer, That would be much older.

Why does this man have Transformers on Bluray?

But I wont, of course. Thanks for the link, guy. Also I think the Tom's Hardware source would help a bit more. As most people use Tom's Hardware for other things...
lol, that's funny I just started trying out Fedora 17 and i'm struggling to get Wine to install.
lol, that's funny I just started trying out Fedora 17 and i'm struggling to get Wine to install.
yum search wine yum install XYZ
yum search wine yum install X
Search for Wine and then find out that you're supposed to install a window system server?
Search for Wine and then find out that you're supposed to install a window system server?
I don't know the exact package name, X is supposed to be the result of the search.
