"Can I have an extra side of chips please?" *returns with a bunch of microprocessors*
Just when you thought you couldn't pay waiters less.
Just when you thought you couldn't pay waiters less.
All industries are heading in this direction, automation will replace the majority of the workforce and what will that workforce do after that? Well benefits of course, or at least, under capitalism, capitalism at that point will hold no reliance for the mass-unemployed jobless.
Looks terribly impractical, though it might serve as a good gimmick
Soon Waiting for fisto
There are definitely more efficient ways of doing this, such as communicating through phone or tablet to list any specialized orders (side of fries, no tomtato, peanut allergies, etc.)

Can't say I'm not disappointed since I expected some sort of neat-o implementation of robotics and all I saw was what basically amounts to a meter-high children's toy.
It might make it easier for restuarants to operate, but remember, great service is still part of the experience of dining. Sure it might be fun to have a robot pour you your wine, but an actual person that isn't a mindless robot hellbent on wiping out humanity 5 years later is so much better.

And they've been predicting the future to be totally automated for like, 200 years. What makes you think that it will be any different now? Sure the technology is there, but is there really any demand for replacing human social interaction with a robot? You don't get to talk to strangers anymore? no conversation? it would become really hard to meet new people. I read that this is sort of what people in europe dream about (not having to talk to strangers ever again), but would you really want to replace human contact with a robot?

So wait, who did they rip this off from?
Somebody is gonna mention Five Nights at Freddys.
Thankfully they look like cute little robots and not one of those attempts at super-realistic human android things. Imagine having one of these bring you your lunch: "HERE IS YOUR DRINK SIR" as it stares into your soul
I wouldn't mind being waited on by one of these to be honest:
they look so cheaply made and crap whatever they're chinese so it's expected.
Its only good for PR& Marketing, they seem useless. You'd be better off with a system of rails on the ceiling connecting all tables; and after the customer has ordered and paid, his meal comes swooshing in. Or completely remove the cashiers aswell; have credit-card readers and touchscreen menus on each table so that people order and pay whilst sitting confortably. I could make a blueprint, this actually sounds great and wouldn't be too expensive to implement for a thematic chain-restaurant.
Each one of those hunks of junk cost 11 grand? they look like an old RAD robot from toys r us.
