Oh god what do I do :v:
I bought an Asus P8P67 mobo along with an Intel i5 2500k, to replace my old AMD3 setup.
When I boot, I get the Asus splash screen, the Marvell info screen, and the Asus screen again, then it boots into Windows
The Windows logo starts coming in, then suddenly freezes and BSOD's, but restarts almost instantly so I can't see what the BSOD code is.
I'm able to boot into Windows recovery CD's and the Ubuntu test CD, so clearly it's an OS issue.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Did you re-install Windows, or did you just move the hard drive over?
I can't say for Vista or 7, but XP did not like having the motherboard changed with out special preparation.
You need to reinstall Windows.
Yeah I figured as much.
I only ask because I've swapped out mobos a few times without needing to reinstall, but that was all the same socket type, I'm guessing that's why.
I tried reinstalling Windows, but when it finishes it says the computer restarted or an unexpected error occurred.
After doing a lot of CHKDSK that seemed to be successful, I'm reinstalling again :v:
It's probably too late now, but try putting the hard drives into IDE mode in the BIOS.
