Though paypal has alot of ease with it's use.
For a merchant account you now have to give your SSN (Social Security Number) However I'm not doing this. I would like to know if anyone has heard of an alternative to paypal. Or shall I just stick with paypal?
The only reason I use it is because it's the most popular way to receive donations and yes just like the majority of the FP population I to own a server.
If you do have a good alternative please post it and explain why you use it.
I've already looked into Intuit Payment Network.
you can use AlertPay.
and Bitcoin is going to be more popular than PP in 1-2 years.
Moneybookers, Liberty Reserve
Do these services offer Automatic Payments?
I have a donation service that is automatic all the way and I just want to make sure which ones have this / don't have this.

wow holy shit that's a joke right
GOOGLE CHECKOUT
alertpay, google checkout, pecunix, liberty reserve, bitcoin, there's millions.
u can use my free online payment service, just tell me all ur bank account details and credit card numbers
The problem is a lot of people have paypal accounts that are all setup and ready to go. If someone has to sign up for something or input their payment info again, they may be less likely to pay you. Paypal isn't going to give out your SSN, if they did you wouldn't be seeing practically every online store using it.
amazon payments

I have a blueray drive will that work?
I don't understand what the hate on BTC is about.
Last year's speculative bubble was fucking retarded, indeed, but why does that immediately rid it's actual usefulness as a currency? The value of BTC is incredibly volatile, I agree, but I believe that is in part due to how small the market is.
Its a loop, the market is small and the value fluctuates because lack of interest, the lack of interest is fueled by people who immediately cast it off as some stupid ponzi scheme/scam/stupid idea/etc. By saying that its a stupid idea, you're helping make it one by yourself. Right now it's only fucking use is for criminal things, DUE TO lack of interest which simultaneously tarnishes its reputation even more.
Of course the other problem is people in the community who treated it as an investment rather than a currency which lead to the bubble. I admit I was one of them, luckily I barely lost much and I gained much more insight into economics than what the value of that money was worth. Now however, looking back in hindsight, I realize I failed to recognize it's true value as a storage of wealth. It is decentralized, no country on Earth legally prints fucking BITCOINS as their main currency, and for this reason nobody would be able to seriously manipulate it if it caught on on a global scale. I ***PERSONALLY*** find it much more secure and yet easier and quicker to use than PayPal or anything else, and some of the concepts around it are really neat yet functional (Ex: the "brainwallet").
I realize that BTC may not have an appeal to everyone, not everyone has a computer in this day and age, especially not in third world countries where BTC will be most useful (although most people on Earth have a mobile phone), and only a small portion of the people who have a computer seem to be willing to understand what the currency is about. It's a shame really, I'm not even that tech savvy (I can write a print script in Python) yet I still can see it's worth. I just wish other people would give it a chance too :(
Also to make this post on thread topic, BTC is an easy exchange medium however it has that risk factor to it which is expected when its on a scale as small as this, however there are escrow services out there to help minimize the risk.

A bluray drive only takes the blue type of money.
