Evening my fellow FPers.
I was wondering if you could give me a little hand choosing something. See, I recently upgraded my long dead computer and spent quite a bit on it. Now I'm thinking about replacing a few more parts.
And of course, these are the expensive variety.
I guess I should throw my current specs out there.
Nvidia-550 ti Amp
600watt PSU
Amd Phenom X3 8450
4GB DDR2 Ram Dram Freq: 400 MHz
Nvidia Nforce 720a Motherboard.
Now, I know it isn't much to look at, but it runs skyrim at high visuals so I cant complain at all.
Now, I've heard a little about the new Intel processors? Any body got any views? I understand I'll also need to replace RAM and my Processor aswell.
And budget. That word I cringe to use, but necessary all the same.
Lets say around €150-€200
Thanks in advance gentlemen.
Wherefrom will you be purchasing the parts? A 550ti isn't astonishing, but its fine enough, and for 200€ you might just be able to afford an i3 2100, as your powersupply is sufficient. 200€ isn't a lot to deal with, and you'd might want to consider adding just a tad more, depending on where you will be ordering from, you might not be able to afford some more RAM within that.
I'd save up some more cash if I were you. Go for either an i5 or an i7. I have an i5 and it performs great for gaming. Make SURE you get the 2500k or 2600k versions, which are unlocked and overclockable. An i5 or i7 will last you some good years. Get the cheapest 4GB of DDR3 RAM you can find. It's all the same. As for a compatible motherboard that's up to you.

I know what you mean, But its not me actually buying them. They'er supposed to be a christmas present to me.
I find the 550 ti is quite good actually, but then again I'm used to using an Nvidia 8200. Anyways, I'm not looking to upgrade that again, I can do that in another 3-4 years.
I'll defiantly look into those though, thanks.
Make sure that you get a z68/p67 motherboard.
