I should really beat Tribes Vengeance one of these days.
I actually bought several games through Xbox Games On Demand, it was like 2100 points per game, bought Fable and BLACK.
It was awesome..
Backwards compatability would have been the only thing besides the controller tying people to the xbox one. Now it's just the controller and that just requires a few hours to get used to the ps4 controller.

So all in all, there is nothing that ties people who have a 360 to the xbox1+2 other than "it's xbox lol".
I honestly don't get the backwards compatibility argument for most cases as far as consoles go.
It's literally just adding the features of the system that has been out for years, and most people who own games for it own the console as well. Adding backwards compatibility to a relatively powerful system requires either a) enough power to emulate it (because in this case it's a different architecture, making is much more computationally expensive) or b) literally strapping pieces of the previous console on it. Either of those options raises costs and, well, the fact is that the vast majority of console buyers aren't interested in that gets the idea scrapped pretty quickly. Adding 50$ (or whatever) to the console for a feature not many people will use is sort of bonkers.
Nintendo's a bit of an exception to that rule since their systems are easier to emulate/cheaper.
As for PC gaming, 20+ years of backwards compatibility is still sort of standard because the business IT market demanded backwards compatibility for many years in the past - and still does. Though if you're using a x64 Windows, forget about 16-bit DOS games without an emulator, though those are much older. But in those cases, they're very easy to emulate.
I'm all for backwards compatibility, but expecting a relatively expensive feature to be jammed into a system made to be cheap is backwards.
I don't see what the fuss is about, the price of the 360 and PS3 is going to plummet in a few months and there's going to be boatloads of consoles in really good condition on shelves for a low price so why worry about backwards compatibility.
I used to have a copy of Tribes Vengence, lost the CD Key though :(
Also backwards compatibility is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

The price drop has already begun. Pretty much, every gamer who does not own a PS3 or a 360 yet will buy one once the XBOX One and PS4 is release just to play the old games. Sony will still support the PS3 till 2016
