Hi, I was wondering if you 'facepunchians' would be able to get a somewhat good AMD Build setup for me for < $600 AUD. Preferred: Use pcpartpicker. --- I will be using this build for GPU intensive stuff, such as BitCoin Mining related things (inb4 hate). So a good GPU is what I'm looking for. Only 4 - 8 Gigs of ram will be needed. No monitor, needed. just a cheapo $10 keyboard needed, no mouse needed. I dont care if it is quite loud, as I am wearing headphones and it doesnt really bug me. Thanks in advanced!
I understand AMD for GPU mining but CPU? PC Case Gear and MSY are the best computer component store in Australia imo
If you want to do Bitcoin mining, get one of the better APUs (like the A10-5800K or one of the newer 6000 series.) Since the APUs have cryptographic acceleration, you can mine on the cores themselves, on the integrated IGP and on the discrete GPU. Basically three miners in one. I have an A8-5600K and it can do 20 Mhash/s on the cores and 105 Mhash/s on the IGP. Just make sure you buy an aftermarket cooler, like the Hyper TX3 because the stock heatsink is shit.
If you're looking to make a mining rig $600 might not cut it. I currently have a 7950 that I bought for around $350 but that was ex-tax. It gets around 500 Mhashs sometimes going up to 700 if I up the speed a bit. One of the disadvantages of Australia is that our electricity costs so much mining is hardly ever worth it. I had to stop cause it was costing more than I was getting back. For a GPU that is good enough for mining you're looking at well over $600. As gigabite said your best choice may be to go for an APU. Won't be as fast but it won't suck out your money. Before you make anything certain have a look at these and work stuff out https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison http://tpbitcalc.appspot.com/ And here's a rough guide to electricity costs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electricity_pricing
