Hey guys, so for christmas I was asked what I wanted, figured I would upgrade my computer. Thing is, im not quite sure what would be the best fit. My motherboard is AsusTek m3n78 PRO. Support for PCI-E My video card is the Nvida 9800 GT (not gtx) My processor is AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 5600+ 2.9ghz 4096mb of Ram any idea on what to upgrade? i know my processor kind of sucks, but im not sure if thats what needs priority here.
Budget? Location?
Budget is about 150-200. preferably cheaper though. Location doesnt matter, I can ship stuff. Geeks.com, Newegg, whatever.

If I were you I would want a new CPU first which means a new motherboard and RAM as well. So you're going to have to push up your budget to $250 if you want anything half decent [editline]08:40PM[/editline] This is the best you can get for $200 CPU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103872 RAM:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231207 Motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130288
Get a AM3/AM2+/AM2 motherboard so you can reuse your RAM. Then, get a nice Athlon II quad/tricore or a Phenom II 945 if you can afford it with the leftover money.
Okay thanks for the ideas for those parts. Im curious though, If I could squeeze a 300 budget over a 200 would it be much more cost effective? I dont want to buy parts that are just 'sort of' upgrades. Id rather spend a little extra and get a worthwhile upgrade.
