Is X rebirth actually fixed and worth playing now? I like the idea of it, but people hated the game so much when it came out I decided to not pick it up when it was on sale last time.

it's much more enjoyable now, but the campaign still has some missions that have misleading instructions.

"Pretty okay" is how I'd describe it, coming from the previous games and having owned XR since day 1. If you ever played [I]Darkstar One[/I], XR sits somewhere between that (in terms of gameplay depth) and the previous games or [I]Freelancer[/I].
I still think X3TC is the best of the series.
