Head over to Alienware. If you can't find anything good, give me a min, I'm helping someone else.

Are you serious..
No Alienware. Overpriced pieces of shit.

You'll get yourself no where around here posting junk like that.
I don't intend to go anywhere, and I don't really care. Alienware used to have great deals, but I just checked it out and well..nothing good.

Get out
do you have 7 speakers and a subwoofer? if not and you don't plan to, the card would be going to waste

I have this: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/speakers/computer_speakers/companion_5/index.jsp

You don't "need" a sound card but with those speakers and your budget its not going to hurt

Bose...

What, bose are perhaps the best known producer of amazing speakers.
You don't need 4GB of Vram, its a total waste unless you have a QSXGA monitor or equivalent.
Even then, its still would be a waste.
Fuck SLI 285s.
Fuck the GTX 285 in general, at least when a GTX 280 is only $250.
Check this build out that I made for another thread:
https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/publicWishDetail.aspx?wishlistdetail=14322108
i7 920, ASUS P6T, 3x GTX 280, 6GB DDR3 1600, 1000W Corsair PSU, 500GB Seagate HD, HAF 932, Vista Home Premium
$1,904 before tax, shipping, and rebates.
It appears that you want a sound card, so get whatever card you so desire and cut out one of the 280s.
If you were considering a VelociRaptor, reconsider that and get this 1.5GB Seagate:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148337
With a simple mod, you can get it to match/outperform the Velociraptor (albeit losing 1.2TB of capacity) for $100 less.

you don't really need that particular card, but if you have the money, no harm i guess.
though, and this is just my preference and opinion, actual speakers are better than satellite/simulated surround
fuck
