It isn't known who hacked Hacking Team; however, the attackers have published a Torrent file with 400GB of internal documents,
source code, and email communications to the public at large.
In addition, the attackers have taken to Twitter, defacing the Hacking Team account with a new logo, biography,
and published messages with images of the compromised data.

Damn dude, even I feel burned just from reading that.
Well, that email was almost a year ago. Guess all hopes can be crushed, eh?

I wonder what happens to them because of this leak
They have governments using this malware which is now public. I bet non of them saw this coming.
They must be shitting themselves right about now.

They've just lost all credibility in the eyes of nations they have contracts with.

That and they will most likely get sued by someone.
Does this mean that companies will be able to use this info to patch holes that governments/NSA were/are using to spy on us and collect massive amounts of data? Also are these guys that hacked them good hackers? I'm kinda confused.

most of the things will get patched ya and these guys are far from good.
Wow, I've never seen such a big .torrent file before (24.774.990 bytes).

he works for hackingteam and his twitter was just hacked
Is the client list people that payed them, or people that they were paid to hack?
Is the client list people that payed them, or people that they were paid to hack?
People that they are presently providing software and support to.
Rumor has it they were also using cracked stuff in their business operations. Namely, an old VMware Workstation version.
Going to be interesting seeing how much trouble this company will get into

Hey! If you want to profit off of this, Mozilla's going to be accepting stuff for their bug bounty program for flaws discovered as a result of this breach.
I wonder who requested this... feature.
Oh, there's more than a few government agencies involved with this apparently, I think there's going to be a few doors kicked in over this.
So hypothetically, now the source code is out for their products surely very shortly they will be completely useless due to people being able to counter it easily?

Every private vulnerability they had will soon be patched.
Of course, people who don't install the security updates will still be vulnerable.
Let's hope companies patch their softwares fast otherwise there will definitely be an increase of attacks.
I should mention that a lot of people are jumping to conclusions while looking through these files.
Such as this: https://twitter.com/half__ro/status/618086585968537600
Yes, that's a list of private companies that are HackingTeam clients. But all the work here looks legit - defensive information security consulting, not industrial espionage or anything.
How do people download 400GB files? I have tried such sized files before and none of the clients can take the torrent file... (too big apparently or unknown error)
