I just bought an ASUS P5N-D mobo today. I set it up and everything was hunky dory until I started up the PC, the Vista loading screen came up, and then I got a blue screen. The computer immediately restarted then kept doing the same thing over and over again: Vista loading screen, thenbBlue error screen.
I tried repairing my Windows installation to fix any errors but Windows installer couldn't find anything wrong and offered to go back to a restore point.
I don't know what to do now. I don't want to re-install Vista because I have some stuff that I haven't backed up yet. How can I solve this problem?
usually windows installations are tied to the motherboard and you'll probably have to reformat.
Fffff--- u serious? Wow.
Well, I'm not taking everything apart again just for a few saved games, pictures, and music.
Screw it. New install, here I come.
Thanks for the info.
you could probably get all your shit in windows.old
Didn't know that there was such a thing. Tell me more. Where is this folder?
If you install a new copy of windows on top of the old installation without formatting, everything from the old one is moved to a windows.old folder in the root of your hard drive.
Like C:/Windows.old/
Well, alrighty then.
Thanks guys.

Ok, now for overclocking...
This is the first time I have ever overclocked. Anyone familiar with an ASUS P5N-D?
All modern motherboards should be relatively the same. Look for guides on the internet, or even preset values for your cpu.
Except for any MSI motherboards with OC genie. Then it won't let you OC from the BIOS. But that's not relevant.
