I was told mostly to come here for guidance on building rigs, so here i am. first i have nearly no parts except for a mouse and a monitor (which i might just get a new one but idk which). I want it to be based around this GPU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130787 (or if someone can point me to a nicer gpu). Also want an intel CPU since i heard overall likes from intel over amd lately. And thats pretty much it other than i really dont plan on overclocking anything at all. I would like it to be under 1000-900$ but i dont know what exactly is the optimum build. thanks in advance to people who help me.
I'll try to toss something up [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] Here is what I came up with, http://pcpartpicker.com/user/stevenw1234/saved/1p06 , I choose the power edition 670 instead of the FTW version because it's going to be more quiet, and overclock better. Also, I put windows 8 in because it's generally faster than 7, but if you don't prefer it feel free to change it to Win 7.

also anyone else have suggestions?
get a Z75 or Z77 motherboard so you can overclock in the future. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] I know you say you don't plan on it, but it's a great option to have and can really prolong the relevancy of your computer without having to drop more for an upgrade.
i7 3960X + Rampage IV
i7 3960X + Rampage IV
In all seriousness, StevenW's build with walrussesesses. upgrades is pretty solid.
Is the 670 the top of the line for an average gpu atm that isnt ludicrously high? Or should i go to an ATI card.
Did you get the Antec Three Hundred?
not yet, out of stock with newegg, and i saw that there is front USB ports that dont fit with the case.
Go for the Corsair 200R, it's 100x better.
Go for the Corsair 200R, it's 100x better.
i got that case and it is very nice, now the last thing i wanted to ask is whats a nice monitor, and should i order other stuff like thermal paste and such.

Not sure what size you plan on getting or would like to have but I love this one with all of my heart. I've had it for over a year now.
I have been looking, but most sites are discontinuing it.
I own a Flatron E2281, the colours seem accurate when you adjust it yourself though. HDMI, VGA, DVI, and a headphone jack.
The only way to really buy a monitor is to go to a store and look at them. The specs tell you nothing, since there really aren't any standards to do the tests with. (Contrast ration, response time etc etc are usually bullshit due to this.) Unless you can find some expert reviews (which do exist) you are better off just picking something that looks nice in a store. Disclaimer: I sold this stuff for 5 years as a part time job.

[editline]19th April 2013[/editline] btw thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it <3
For $1000, I'd be going this way... http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RXux It's a shame you won't overclock, because the FX-8350 is a beast at overclocking, and it isn't hard to push it past 4.5GHz. I threw in a CM 212 Evo to replace the stock cooler so it stays nice and cool, even if you don't overclock. Better be safe than sorry. Also, many people may say that 16GB is far too much RAM for a gaming rig, but this PC isn't only capable at gaming, yet it will do extremely well with editing and rendering. Didn't use the GTX 670, as I found a Radeon HD 7970 that was cheaper. And the 7970 will demolish the 670 in 9/10 tests. As for the case, I just threw in a cheap case that I knew was good.

Overclocking is completely irrelevant here, you could overclock a Bulldozer to the moon and it would still be thoroughly stomped by Intel in nearly every aspect. Here's a review of an 8150 vs a 2500k, but the same still applies with the Piledriver and Ivy bridge, Piledriver only offers at most a 10% boost over Bulldozer.
