Phones have had auto-correct functions for as long as I can fucking remember. Even my first phone, which was some awful nokia, had it.
I guess no one here actually read the patent document, else they would've seen that it wasn't a patent for auto-correct, but as a way of displaying corrections on the touchscreen.

you can change the auto correct level in settings.
its default is on low or something
