Hey Facepunch! I've posted this a couple times in other threads but I just finished the first 9-page scene of my webcomic and I'm taking a break for finals, so I thought now would be a good time to post it and see what you guys think. It's based on the characters and story for the Galactopticon mod, since I can't work on the mod anymore now that I'm at school.

I'm going to try to pick it up again soon, and moving forward I'm interested in collecting feedback--are there particular things you like and dislike about it, was it easy to follow, etc. Let me know!
The art is fantastic, great job on that part.
The story is pretty easy to follow, and seems quite well written so far.
Can't wait to see more!
that character design is fucking brilliant. glad you realized that if something is a reptile it doesn't have tits.
everything about this is really fucking good, and my only complaint is the firearm design because i'm one of those nitpickers. i'd recommend looking up modern guns and just using those. making them look like nerf guns only makes everything that much more divorced from reality. if you have to make them sci-fi, do what the artists for cowboy bebop did and just add shit onto modern guns. always think of how stuff is supposed to work, and design things to work, and not necessarily look "neat".
the same principle goes for everything. make the designs realistic, and immersion will follow.
that being said, i give this an 8/10. bookmarked and will check for updates regularly.

also, i noticed the bits of alien text on some signs. keep it simple and don't over-design things. i'd recommend using real languages as a base, like manchu or macedonian. your current language seems very based in the well-known eastern ones, and that results in a very drab and unexciting look
just my two cents
I really love this comic, can't wait for more stuff.
The art is amazing, and I'm liking the setting and dialogue.
Isn't the blue guy from that one mod a bunch of you moderators were working on a while ago?
if you want a very interesting feel, go for a semi-hard aesthetic on the ships and general dynamics of space travel
check out etranger for some "hard sci-fi+minor space magic" designs, bambam131's page for super-hard sci fi designs, and make sure to read everything on this site to get your feet wet in the world of rocket science and astrophysics/xenobiology/theoretical sociology/and other made up words.
the way it is now the world you've built seems very lackluster. you can give the whole thing more "oomph" by having an interesting and original world in which to tell the story.

one last thing, i have lots of world-building experience for sci-fi stuff (been on four VN teams and one video dev team, a few of them tanked but they were all good experiences that made me better with this kinda shit). i'd love to help with the minor details, like the guns, language, and shit like that. can't draw much anymore, but i can make something work.
just curious, what actually happened to the mod that featured these guys?

Yeah, what happened to that mod?
Wasn't it postponed while you went through Uni/College?
I love that punch Solomon throws on page 4.
Some of the poses are really awkward and stiff looking but overall its fantastic. The colors and rendering is pretty awesome, definitely keep this shit up
Wasn't it postponed while you went through Uni/College?
It wasn't officially postponed, I stepped down as an active participant when I went to school, and everyone kinda stopped doing stuff. Honestly the scope was probably way too huge for us to have pulled off even with everyone working at full tilt, unfortunately. That kind of overambition kills like 99% of mods haha

Thanks! Yeah posing is kinda awkward, I've been taking some pretty serious gesture and figure drawing classes and practicing a lot so hopefully that'll keep getting better. Also there's instances where I know something's not right but kind of leave it so I don't lose the momentum of getting the pages done. With comics it's always kind of a balancing act between quality and quantity.
Well hey, even if Galactopticon never sees the light of day, make sure you keep using the characters and universe in these comics because they're great
You really pulled off the feminine look on her, I remember how you were working on that, absolutely not an easy job to pull off when you don't have any boobs nor a human face to mold. And it does show in her shocked expressions that the eyes are really the defining thing as she could easily have been a dude in those drawings because the feminine shape and eyelid disappears partly or wholly.
I think I'd like to see you experiment even more with the layout though, it works really well as is, so don't get me wrong there, but it's fantastic when you play with it like on the 5th page, dynamic skewed lines that emphasises the situation and feeling you want to express in those scenes and a mild overlap effect on the gun that's subtle enough to work and make it way more interesting.
Taking a new look at it I think you should work on the length of the speech bubble pointers, page 4 is absolutely dreadful in that regard, you don't need the pointer to go right up to their mouth, you can pull it off just fine by having a small pointer that aims at their mouth, so you know which direction the text is supposed to come from.
Reading direction, compositons, values and all that is very clear though, you don't even think about it when reading it in either state of mind, which is great.
Highly enjoyable work, looking forward to it's continuation.
I uh
I made something for you TH89

Thank you for this mystifying image
I miss galactopticon, man. Also, I was afraid this comic will never be finished
It was stuck at page 3 for a while, as far as I remebmer
I'd love to do fan art for this!
I love this, it's really well executed and all...
But this one frame kills me.

I spent like 3 hours agonizing over those four frames so haters can suck my fat one 8L

Also, it's supposed to look funny, I don't know if that makes a difference.
not racist enough frankly
This is radical. I dig it. The writing, art, and style are groovy as hell. I'll definitely keep following this one!
I imagine her having Laura Prepon's voice :s
P much the coolest shit bro
This is rad to the max.
I really do enjoy this comic man, I like the art, the characters and the developing story. I will definetly be following this.
love it
Loving it so far. a great comic. Definately looking forward to the next updates to come.
Wait hold on so she spends 1.8 calling him stupid for not being careful and then the next page chiding him for being paranoid?
