• Spending $300 a week on my PC build

Alright, so it's time for me to get a new PC and I'm probably going to end up dropping quite a bit of cash to get what I want. I'm planning to buy $300 worth of components every week until I've got what I want. I prefer to space it out a little bit so it doesn't seem like so much all at once. I'll also be chronicling my build process on here. My needs: -Blu-Ray -Something not too loud (I hate noisy ass computers) -A super quick, snappy PC for web design and programming -Horsepower for occasional gaming (but nothing super fancy) -Wireless -USB 3.0 -3 1080P monitors. I'm not sure the best way of going about this but I know I want 3 24" 1080P monitors -HACKINTOSH COMPATIBLE HARDWARE. I like OS X for a variety of reasons but I'm smart enough not to buy a Mac Pro. I will be running Windows as well and I'm guessing it will be about 50/50 split between OS X and Windows. Possibly some VMware for when I'm lazy or in a hurry. I'm really wondering if I should wait until the next Intel Sandy Bridge motherboards and CPUs show up as I'm probably going to want to up the CPU power in the future (currently running with a 2.3ghz core 2 duo and a 9800GT and the CPU bottlenecks sooo much, it's never the CPU). Right now here's what I'm thinking: -8gb of ram -2.8-3ghz i7 quad core -2 ATI 5770's (not in crossfire) -2 1TB hard drives for files -1 128GB SSD for startup apps and operating systems
Get it all at once: save on shipping, won't have to kick yourself in the ass if price increases
Ah I guess. Alright, well with a budget of $1000 for the rig to start with. What CPU/Mobo should I get? I'm pretty intent on the ATI 5770's as their the same as the Mac Pro has.
Why would you get 2 5770's not in crossfire?
OSX doesn't support crossfire and I'm going to be using 3 monitors.
Then just use one card.

Just get a more powerful GPU that supports three monitors, in-fact doesn't the 5770 have eyefinity? Could be wrong. And is there any reason or using OSX?

1000 dollars? 3 monitors? not possible?
1000 dollars? 3 monitors? not possible?
Sorry, should have been clear when I said "rig". I meant just the tower. I'm planning on buying the monitors last and I'm guessing they will run me an additional $1000 if I get all IPS 24" with adjustable height stands. Just wondering though..do you know how compatible those are with OS X? I really like Apple's operating system and Coda for working with websites. Everything just seems a bit cleaner and easier to control rather than having like 8 separate programs open. I know there's lots of PHP IDE's for windows but I've not liked any as much as Coda. I also just like how much more reliable OS X "seems" to be. My windows laptop crashes about once every week or so and is slow/laggy at other times. When I run it in OS X, it rarely ever has a problem.
Just get a Mac then.
Ha, and pay 10 times the price?
