FUCK
Ya-
Doom 3: BFG Edition is now available on Steam in North, Central, and South America with more territories opening later this week.
oh
Wow, not available in Finland
Fuck this
I really wanted it too
Not even a pre-order for us other territories?
This great for people who don't already own Doom 3.
If you already own it, cannot I see spending $30 for a new level.
How much will this be in the UK?
How much will this be in the UK?
I'm guessing £30
Oh wait, you get a 33% discount if you own Doom 3 on steam already
Still, don't want to spend $20 on a new map pack.
And I already own a billion different versions of Doom 1 and 2.
I'm guessing £30
Seriously? Sod that, I bought the original Doom 3 for £1 on ebay
Seriously? Sod that, I bought the original Doom 3 for £1 on ebay
Just a guess. It'll probably be cheaper.
You get all the Dooms or am I reading it wrong?
Meh, I can see the hype some people can have with it but I've already beaten doom 3 once and that's enough for me.
I'm guessing £30
It's a $30 game, so it'll be £15-20.
You get all the Dooms or am I reading it wrong?
Remake of DOOM 3 plus all the older games.
So how much better does it look?
Oh the ?cc=us trick still works.
The Ultimate Collection:
As a special bonus, DOOM 3 BFG Edition will also include the original DOOM and DOOM II games, making it the definitive collection of the revolutionary games developed by id Software, the studio that pioneered the first-person shooter genre.
That's pretty nice

I'll buy this if Beth won't be a bitch about putting it to Steam in Russia and making a reasonable price.
-why would you quote all this...-
I thought this was a graphical upgrade? Those screens don't look any different.
I thought this was a graphical upgrade? Those screens don't look any different.
I wouldn't know I haven't been following the development.
I thought this was a graphical upgrade? Those screens don't look any different.
Still, there is something I don't get it:
"Minimum:
OS:Windows vista/ Windows 7
Processor:2.0 GHz dual core
Memory:3 GB RAM
Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT / ATI Radeon HD 5750, 512 MB video RAM
Hard Drive:11 GB
Sound:Windows compatible sound card"
Did I miss something? What they did to ask you that much?
Really? $30 for a repackaged release with some new levels and a slight graphical touch up?
Not worth it at all, especially since Doom 3 was so mediocre.
Better off just getting Doom 1 & 2 with expansions for cheap.
I thought this was a graphical upgrade? Those screens don't look any different.
I don't think they ever said it was a graphical update.
I believe they optimized the engine and it supports Widescreen by default, so the HUD and UI elements won't be stretched.
They also added 3D plus if you have multiple screens, you can choose what screen to run the game on, which is not a feature found in most current games
IMO it's pretty badly wrecked.

The menu looks very minimal and consolized. Choosing Doom 1 and Doom 2 just loads them in some form of emulator. Exiting them goes straight back to desktop instead of to the game selection menu as one would hope/expect.
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3901038/FP/DBFG/Doom3BFG%202012-10-16%2017-17-15-99.jpg[/t]
Eyeliner, Seriously why? And the lighting is very bland, nothing is dark, in fact everything is pretty well lit and very visible when it's supposed to be dark. The whole atmosphere feels off.
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3901038/FP/DBFG/Doom3BFG%202012-10-16%2017-18-18-08.jpg[/t]
Graphical Anomolies. Seriously just look at it, the overlay actually discolours the texture below it. And not in a good "overlay" way but in a "holy shit let's get all 8-bit up in this" sort of way.
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3901038/FP/DBFG/Doom3BFG%202012-10-16%2017-18-08-54.jpg[/t]
Another example of the 8-bit side of the game. Just look at that texture above the cabinet, YOUCH!
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3901038/FP/DBFG/Doom3BFG%202012-10-16%2017-18-57-38.jpg[/t]
Mis-matched textures. Seriously, that texture on the left looks like it's 16x16, whilst the door has a pretty crisp look.
On top of that the game menu is heavily consolized, the FOV looks bad. The only graphics options is resolution, Anti-Aliasing, and Motion Blur. Oh and the usual Vsync and brightness.
You can't skip cutscenes, and there appears to be no option for subtitles either.
Now the good parts? Well, the game is at a constant 60+FPS at least on my rig, oh and the loading times is only a few seconds compared to the 30 seconds to a minute of the original.
I'd recommend not buying the game until these problems have been fixed.
You recommend people to not buy the game because of the graphics? Ok
So its got some of the same graphical problems as the original Doom 3.
That is nice, I wasn't excepting anything else.
You recommend people to not buy the game because of the graphics? Ok
Well he has a good point. If they won't give a 8 years old game any sort of graphical update then there is no point in buying the newer version.
The older version is dirt cheap and is seemingly better than this poor attempt at cashing in on hd remixes.

FUCK
Just encourage people to pirate it even more..
You recommend people to not buy the game because of the graphics? Ok
When the graphics are fucked up beyond that of the original game (8-bit style textures and overlay/decal glitches), yes.
When the graphics are fucked in a way that destroys the atmosphere of the game (lighting), yes.
I'm not the type of guy to obsess over graphics and think they are everything. And I certainly don't have the most powerful of gaming rigs to enforce such a obsession.
But the game clearly has some gameplay ruining bugs.
