I love Redwings, our work buys us a set once a year. They get trashed in that amount of time. My recommendation is that you don't try and break them in too fast or add anything to them. They should be waterproof, and oil resistant as-is. The faster they get broken in or soften out, the faster they decline - trust me. Best way to deal with em is to start using em a lot. Also, one thing the dealer tells us is to take your old junky shoes - pop the soles out, and put them under the soles of your new boots till they're broken in. Golden advice.
