Hey there you mighty PC builders you. I need some suggestions on what I could possibly but to improve my current PC. It's starting to struggle a little with modern-er games and I'd like to keep it up to date.

I'm on no real budget so I'm only after what you guys think I should do to boost my system into running even better.
Being able to run something like Crysis 2 on absolute max (with the high texture packs and direct x shaders installed) would be amazing.
I highly recommend getting a nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB, it runs absolutely great for me with all games maxed. Though you might not be able to use the texture packs you would like. For a bit more power perhaps a GTX 470 or even a 480.
I dont understand how graphics cards work exactly. My current cards specs are higher in some cases. How much better is the GTX 480 over my current?

It lets you choose two graphics card models and observe the results of each card from different games and tests. What you are looking at is the clocks, which can be highly effected by the other aspects of a graphics card. Higher clocks doesn't necessarily mean its faster. There are lots of other aspects like texture filtering units (TFU's) that are factored into the performance.

That is actually a terrible place, that only compares the specs of it, there are no benchmarks whatsoever. But a 480 over your current card would be a massive upgrade. Highly suggest a budget for you to give us though.
Anything around £200 would be ideal. Give or take.
around 200 euros you can get a 560 ti which is your best best.

IF I were to get this would I actually get the FPS (give or take) they provide in the performance comparison charts with my current RAM and CPU? I feel that my CPU would let me down.
Your cpu would let you down a little I believe, I guess you could get the 560 ti or 570 now and then get a new CPU and motherboard when you get the money.
Blah how much of a difference will I notice? I can asume the graphics card would make much more of a difference over a different motherboard right now right? These specs on these cards are making mine look like it's 10 years out of date.
Just noticed that the CPU they got the performance charts from is almost the same as mine speed wise. I just hope that my cpu won't make too much of a let down.

Your processor is more than sufficient for todays games and will last you for a long while. The only thing letting your pc down is your current graphics card. If you're spending £200 then get a GTX 560ti, or a GTX 570 if you can stretch your budget a bit.

Make sure your PSU can support this.
I didn't think about comparability. What issues wold I have there? The pin count is the same as my current but what should I check to make sure?

I'm assuming you're running a prebuilt. Open up the computer and check the power supply. Give us details such as the model and wattage. Everything else is fine as long as the card will fit inside the case and the power supply has enough sufficient reliable power.

I'm pretty certain it will fit inside. It has the width of two spaces and there are four in the back. It'll be tighter than my current but the vents won't be blocked.

its a 400w PSU, I'd suggest getting a 500w or higher.

Ugh how can I even be certain a bigger one will fit in this current ones place or that it will work with my current motherboard? I know where everything goes and how to install it but it's getting everything right that I'm finding hard, clearly.

Welp, looks like I'm buying a new power supply too. Any suggestions?
Just look for an antec neo eco 500 or 620w psu, it will fit and it should work on your current motherboard as long as its a 24 pin motherboard connector.
