A Plan For The World's Tallest Wood Skyscraper, Stockholm Sweden
Look at this futuristic skyscraper design! Construction for it would dump less CO2 into the atmosphere than traditional steel construction! It'd be cheaper to build! It'd be made out of--uh, wood, actually.

Looks flimsy as fuck, but of course they know what they are doing.
A wooden skyscraper?
I hate to be that guy, but all I can think of is Rust right now :v:
This is a bad idea.
If a fire broke out it wouldn't end well
Hey man lemme get a quick smoke break before I get back to work...
all I can think of is jenga
If a fire broke out it wouldn't end well
It's perfectly capable of being fire "proofed", such as putting in sprinkler systems.

came in here to post this
What happens when they get a termite infestation?
who designed this and though it was a good idea to make it JENGA TOWER
What happens when they get a termite infestation?
They call a terminator and they go away.
What happens when they get a termite infestation?
Yeah, those termites are going to have a field day in northern Europe. Yeah they exist, but the infestations are pretty small overall and the wood is going to be chemically treated to probably be both fireproof and infestation proof.
I can only think... just... wut.
Well hey, in light of:
Construction for it would dump less CO2 into the atmosphere than traditional steel construction! It'd be cheaper to build!
Go for it, you crazy Swedes.
Sweden trying to compete with Norway, we unveiled our plans for the worlds tallest wooden building about one month ago. :v:
So by pumping out less co2 they mean that it's easier / quicker to build or something right? Not that the actual MATERIALS produce co2...
I can't wait for the North Korean contender, which will be 35 stories tall.

When producing something like steel, you need to burn coal, fuel, to heat up the ore, smelt the iron, add the carbon, hammer the steel, etc.
In the case of wood, the fuel needed to be burned (like in transport) is much lower.
I look forward to the conspiracy theories if it ever gets hit by a plane.
"The government secretly planted woodworm the night before!"
Won't the wood start warping and fuck up the whole thing?
And then the tower collapses from snow build-up.

And made of balsa wood
If a fire broke out it wouldn't end well
The terrorists have already set their sinister plan in motion:
And made of balsa wood
Actually Balsa wood is pretty strong. It's been used to make aircraft and wind turbine blades due to the high strength and low density of the wood.
Waiting on Swebonny
brought to you by IKEA
Just wait until it gets infested with termites.
Well if the damn thing is made by IKEA then we probably won't even manage to assemble it.
The instructions will be too confusing.

If the fire gets the core of a wooden beam and starts smoldering that can pose serious fucking issues, and this can happen and not produce any smoke at all(though rare) But I'm sure they've considered all possibilities for a situation like that.
