I've gotten mixed answers from various stoners, some tell me it's safe, others tell me only idiots drive stoned, so I'm coming to you for help.
Reason I'm posting this is actually because I recently took a little ride around the countryside, and it was absolutely euphoric. I loved it, but at the same time I don't think I was driving that bad either. I was going slow, being cautious, taking my time and just enjoying the view. Think what I did was bad?
Being high isn't the sane as being drunk, it effects everyone differently, and some people do drive better stoned then they do sober, so as long as you weren't a hazard to anybody or anything I see no problem.
It really depends on the person.
I have a buddy who becomes a fucking moron when he smokes and can't drive worth a shit. It really pisses me off because he always wants to be the one driving and it amazes me that he hasn't gotten pulled over yet. I, personally, stay pretty much the same and drive more or less the same though usually I tend to be a bit nicer (ie letting people into traffic etc).
You will still respond slower etc, while you may be fine in average driving conditions, something that surprises you may turn catastrophic quickly if you respond too slowly or make the wrong decision because you are impaired.

I only wouldn't recommend it if you're a terrible or reckless driver.
Dumb as hell, - I could never do it. As unimpaired physically as I am while completely baked, I can still tell that I am impaired to a measurable degree.
If anything SUDDENLY went wrong, like my tire blew out or someone ran a red light or turned in front of me, or merged recklessly, I can't say I am sure I would respond in the best way.
Driving while intoxicated is unsafe. Period.
Weed slows down reaction times drastically and you're more prone to zoning out while on it. I suggest not doing it.
I get terribly shaky while high and not to mention the distraction of my own mind....
im a courier (meaning i deliver packages/food city wide) and i blaze before, during and after my shifts.
There's no difference driving sober or stoned when it comes to me. I just... [i]drive[/i]
I've never been in an accident, well, I haven't even had my license in over a year, but I drive fine enough to never be pulled over, it really isn't hard. I can understand if I just coughed my lungs out over a kief bowl or something, but even then I just need a minute to chill.
You can do it, and you won't fuck around like when you're drunk, but it's still generally unsafe. You have slower reaction times, so if someone else on the road fucks up, you won't be able to react as quickly as if you were sober.
I'd do it, just not on a regular basis.
I can drive high, shit I drive while smoking a blunt. But I would never drive drunk.
If I never drove high, well, i'd never drive :350:
Driving stoned is nothing.. except alot better. I drive more careful, but also enjoy, driving stoned. Driving drunk is tough, some people cant do it at all, I personally have a knack for being the "designated driver" in the sense that once everyones had their couple dozen drinks, Im the best one for making sure everyone makes it home in one piece.
Driving stoned is sooo much safer than driving drunk/buzzed/whatever.

Regardless of the fact that it IS safer than driving drunk, it is still much more dangerous than driving sober.
I feel safer driving while high than driving while angry.

Feeling safer has nothing to do with it. You are in an altered state of mind that makes stuff seem much more safe and relaxed.

Maybe I should've said drive safer. If i'm angry, i'll drive really fast and aggressively. if i'm high, i'll usually go +-5 the speed limit and defensively.
although I wouldn't tell some nooby smoker to drive high.
Meader drove while high one time. Didn't go all that well because he was very high.
I tend to focus specifically on driving and nothing else when I drive stoned. I also stay like 5 under the speed limit and I'm super cautious.
Sure, something could go wrong and ruin it, but it's not that bad.

While high you get paranoid so you tend to drive a lot safer than when sober. The only problem is that bud, in large doses, may distort your sense of depth. You might find it difficult to comprehend how far something really is.
Driving at night is far safer because there are less people on the road. Stick to areas YOU know cops do not hang around. It's fairly easy to spot a stoner late at night. Cops WILL pull you over for something utterly ridiculous and give you hell if they can tell you are baked.
Personally, bud never really affects my motor skills. It just makes my mind race and focus on subjects that puzzle me. I actually find driving while stoned quite fun. The feeling of motion and the turning of the wheel become exaggerated.
I try my hardest to not drive within 4 hours of blazing. And so far, I've stuck to that very well.
I've driven high twice and that wasn't straight after I had a bowl, it was about 2 hours afterwards. I found that I drove about 5km/h under the speed limit and was pretty cautious because of my paranoia, but it's still unsafe to do.
I think your biggest problem while driving high is other drivers. You don't react as quick, so it can be easier to become involved in an accident.

I've been smoking weed while driving for years so it's just the same as driving normally now. I'd say i'm a safer driver when i'm high, but i know my judgement must be impaired a bit.
edit: I've also drove in the early hours of the morning while high on MDMA. I'm actually ashamed of myself for that, it was dangerous in retrospect
Driving high is awesome, especially while blasting some music.
It doesn't effect me any, accept I notice that I am generally more patient/cautious while driving high.

Obviously you have never driven high
My friends drive motorbike quite frequently stoned.
Nothing dangerious, but they are experienced anyway.
I've come to believe that any competent being can operate a vehicle while high. It just takes practice.
The first few times behind the wheel when you're baked are always a little off. You're in another mind-set and have to adjust yourself to the condition. After a few times you get used to driving high and eventually it becomes second nature.
This isn't to say you drive perfectly, I still make a light mistake now and then (missing a turn, stopping for a stop sign like its a light, slowing for a green, etc) but they've always been minor and when no one else is around.
Still, if you have the option to drive sober or drive high. Pick sober.

That time was scary as fuck man. I was rather new to the smoking scene, got waaaaay too blazed, and then drove. I swear to god I saw a man in a sombrero shaking maracas in my headlights as they bounced off of the yellow lines. I thought for sure I would die that night.
But this past Sunday I drove while baked off two bowls and was completely fine.
Long story short, it's dangerous and stupid if you don't feel comfortable, but if you do there's no problem. I voted it's a bad idea though, because 60% of the time it is.
