If only it wasn't procedurally generated levels. I get so hyped up for this game every time I see a new piece of media, but then I remember it's procedurally generated levels and it just torpedoes my excitement.

At least it's done in a decent way. It 'procedurally' picks which chunk of handmade area to attach to the last, so we'll never hit dead ends or anything preventing you from proceeding.

We don't quite know if it is yet
the big killer of procedural is that it has no personality or flare. 500 million levels may as well be the same level.

Hopefully them being handmade areas will fix this though

That's not decent, that's bare minimum game development. If the level isn't completable it's a shit broken level.

Unless we've got hundreds of pieces to stitch together and they have a system that changes the theme every now and then, I can't see them fixing that problem.

But that's like the worst kind of procedural generation. Going through the same identical modules over and over again fucking sucks.
Yeah, have some kind of endless game mode where you go through an infinite procedural dungeon or something but a campaign with handcrafted levels would be nice.
