Taliban militants launched a twin suicide attack on Thursday, targeting a convoy of buses carrying Afghan police cadets outside of the capital and killing 37 people, mostly policemen, and wounding 40, an Afghan official said. ... The Taliban have lately stepped up their attacks as part of their summer offensive. The insurgents frequently target convoys of Afghan troops or buses carrying civil servants or those perceived to be working for the Kabul government.
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/official-suicide-bomb-attack-kills-30-afghan-trainee-40241042 Had a 1x1 inch box in the metro news paper while a whole spread is dedicated to celeb gossip.
Can we go at least a week without some sort of killing with 10+ casualties?

This is catastrophic. To me it seems there's a morbid case of oneupmanship between IS and the taliban. Living in Afghanistan must be a struggle.
Had a 1x1 inch box in the metro news paper while a whole spread is dedicated to celeb gossip.
While unfortunate, the main reason that is the case is because it is merely expected to happen by people who live in the western world, and is thus considered barely newsworthy. Several orders of magnitude more people die due to terrorism related incidents around the world than in western countries specifically, but an airport bombing that kills 10 people in western Europe will always get immensely more attention than a market bombing in Baghdad that kills 100.

Not to say it isnt important, but come on, surely people feel the difference when its somewhere where even years go by without something messed up going on.
People like you and me, barely out of school most of the time. Haven't even 'properly' started their life yet. Attacked and kill for the crime of choosing the wrong profession. Man it's fucking depression if you think about it.

You know how many people read that kind of stuff and put the newspaper down because its depressing? People would rather not know it's happening and focusing on this kind of stuff would probably make the press lose views/money Stupid but true

I've got enough depressing thoughts already...
The frequency of these attacks in the last few years has turned it into a fucked up sense of "normality". Especially at that side of the world. ISIS did a good job numbing many to their fucked up executions and slaughter last year that it was almost like "great. What fucked up shit did ISIS do THIS time now?" Literally trying to one up evil with something more evil. You can't be surprised if there's little write up about it. It's so frequent that it's ridiculous. I can't even imagine the lives that get destroyed there on a daily basis.
