I went on an Urbex trip with one of my friends last week. We explored an old FDGB - vacational home that was closed down in 1990. I decided to take some pictures with my phones camera, and a few actually turned out pretty well. Now to some background information. FDGB=Freier Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund=Free German Trade Union Federation; this place was pretty much a cheap "hotel" that was funded by the state for FDGB-members, allowing vacations for those who normally could not afford any. Glorious Soviet times! Now, to introduce the location. The "Fritz-Heckert-Heim": This was the tower-like structure that made up the entrance area. Those are two more pictures I made from the outside area near the entrance. A large section of windows near the entrance. For some reason, we climed inside through the windows instead of using the nearby doorway. Adventurous we are. After climbing through the window, we found this large hall full of grafittis, with a concrete platform which I assume could have been a stage. We found this large tiled hall: Also, grafitti: There was a load of swatsikas as well :v: Guess that didn't work too well. A strange round window. Trapezoids! After that, we decided to make our way upstairs. Eerie stuff followed. The staircase heading upstairs. Now, the scariest hallway in the whole building. It's not that easy to capture its feel with just a crappy mobile phone camera, but I still think that it's got a pretty eerie touch to it. The main room of the second floor. Amazing to see those tiles to be still intact after 20 years of vandalists, hobos, sprayers, nazis, punks and paintballers! Another room with less intact tiles and an interesting graffitti. Who knew gang wars have come this long way. C'est la vie. Ah, I'm beginning to like these sprayers. This is one of the best-looking places of the building imo: I found a shot of what this place used to look like before it got closed down and turned into the vandalised hole it is now: Pretty neat, huh? And now, have some asbestos! I think my friend actually went in there, so did I. But we went out shortly and tried not to shake up all the damn dust and lung-devastating particles. One of the other countless rooms upstairs. Were the beds attached to the floor with this? Who knows. I don't. In the next room, the wallpaper was peeling off one wall: On the opposite wall in the same room, everything was fine (well, fine for 20 years without care, it would seem to one): We took a walk on this roof afterwards. From here, we could look through the shaft leading here: We then went on our way back, where my friend made a picture of this little hole that I was completely unaware of. This leads back to the entrance hall. Nice. And this is the end of our expedition to the ol' Heckertheim. I'm certain that we will return one day, this time with a proper camera. I'll stay on the lookout for more good urbexing opportunitys in my area, seems like East Germany is a good location. Nobody knows why, but theres loads of closed factories, warehouses and other buildings here :v: Until then, graffitti3 von Oatmeal Man auf Flickr [editline][/editline] [CONTENT ALERT] After coming back for another visit, I can now share even more awesome pictures of this great site with you. My friend brought a decent camera and I made a few more pictures with my phone as well. We visited the basement this time, where we discovered even more cool stuff. If you've viewed the older pictures throughly you might notice that in this short time a few things have changed. A few items disappeared that were there before, some barrel and cloth were thrown over and a matress was moved from a hallway to the roof. :tinfoil: Anyways, here come the new photos: Some pictures of that huge tiled hall and the graffitti we missed last time. Why Basement. Very nice! Looks like it would be shit scary at night.
I assume there would be some shifty individuals who hang around there at sometimes?
I assume there would be some shifty individuals who hang around there at sometimes?
Well, I've heard about hobos shifting their shifts there sometimes, I actually saw some matrasses they left in the building. I let my pal take a picture of me on it. Now I'm a superhobo with SuperAIDS. I guess theres also some punks and nazis who have had partys there and might still have them sometimes, but not recently. There was also pink spots of paint everywhere on the walls, so I guess theres the paintballers as well :v:
I've been trying to find for years an abandoned building in my city. It appears that they simply don't exist in third world countries.

There are tons and tons of old abandoned houses and farms in Lapland, Finland. Maybe I should make a thread about them too? And OP your pics were fukken scary :tinfoil:
And OP your pics were fukken scary :tinfoil:
Have I mentioned the houses basement yet, the one thats so dark you cant see anything? Well, next time I'm in that town, I'll have a flashlight and we'll check it out. THAT will be a bit scarier than this, at least for me. :pwn:

I love these threads so much. Thanks for uploading op  I do have one question though, what does the writing in this picture say?

5 Euros for Diesel, is always there, If I am correct. About that asbestos, isn't it a common thing to bring at least dust masks?
5 Euros for Diesel, is always there, If I am correct. About that asbestos, isn't it a common thing to bring at least dust masks?
That's what I was thinking. Some of my older friends who did URBEX wore full respirators (Worked at a paint shop, so they just used those). I've been looking to get into it, but I'd need a better kit for it.
Lot of HL2 mapping inspiration in here
I'd make a joke about portal 2 and asbestos, but I've got nothing to say :/ Still, really cool building :D
That's not Asbestos, just mineral wool. [editline]24th July 2011[/editline] It's dangerous breathing that too though, the dust is literally little splinters of glas.
Good to know I won't horribly die in about 20 years
Also, I'm going back there to explore the basement and try to get pictures of it in a few minutes. Lets see what I get.
Looks like in Stalker
Some of those pics look just like Nova Prospekt's bathrooms.
