If I'd have heard about what this guy was planning to do before it all played out, I might have thought he was unrealistic or maybe even condescending. But after watching the video, I realized that there's a much bigger thing at play here: We need to remember that every human being is unique and full of potential. We don't know other people's stories.
http://www.upworthy.com/one-time-a-guy-gave-a-homeless-man-a-computer-and-the-recipient-did-exactly-what-the-giver-expected?c=ufb1
this is beautiful but that thread title had my head spinning for a few seconds
I'm sure this story is like a year old and didn't the guy get arrested?
I'm sure this story is like a year old and didn't the guy get arrested?
it mentioned how he got arrested in the video, I think it's a new report
summary from somebody who watched the whole thing? Also fix the fucking title it's so hard to read that
summary from somebody who watched the whole thing? Also fix the fucking title it's so hard to read that
Summary: Watch the video
Summary: Watch the video
dont be a dick, summarise if you really did watch it
Summary: Watch the video
5:43 nobody got time for that

Don't bother posting unless you watch the video. It might as well be considered shit posting if you don't read an article/watch a video in SH and still post in the thread. This stuff causes so many pointless and retarded arguments all over the forums as it is, simply because people are too fucking lazy to read a short article/video.

He looked up a fuck tonne of porn?
i'm listening to music right now and i would like to read the story instead of stopping my music. it might sound really lazy or really stupid but i wish upworthy just fucking summarized their videos instead of this undescriptive shit.
can someone just summarise what it's about already lol?

It's cool guys, I watched the video and I'll summarize it so we can end this stupid argument: There's this guy at a computer and he's about to say something but another guy punches him and then first guy says "Aww fuck, I can't believe you've done this." Then that part repeats again in slow motion. Cool vid.
The members apathy towards watching such a video is a testament to it's story, funny that... watch the fucking video, don't expect things handed to you on a platter.
The members apathy towards watching such a video is a testament to it's story, funny that... watch the fucking video, don't expect things handed to you on a platter.
And if you dont have the means to?
The members apathy towards watching such a video is a testament to it's story, funny that... watch the fucking video, don't expect things handed to you on a platter.
But im at work and I cant watch videos right now and I want to know what the video is about
dont be a dick, summarise if you really did watch it
special kind of lazy right here
And if you dont have the means to?
What could possibly stop you if you are already on the on a computer, on the internet? If it is location then there are ways around that.
But im at work and I cant watch videos right now and I want to know what the video is about
Seems kind of silly to worry about watching a video so badly, you cannot just wait until you get home. But I will eat my words and cave: A programmer notices the will power of a homeless man wightlifting with chains he had found. Due to this he began a blog saying he would offer the man a choice of $100, or a cheap laptop and some Java textbooks along with a promise of personal tuition. Anyway after many reputable websites/publication damning his idea and calling him out to be supposedly harsh and naive the homeless man actually turns up to learn. A while later he has made an app and is really trying his hardest but around winter he is arrested because he is found sleeping on a bench, and his laptop taken as "evidence". An employee from google, upon reading this (because she had been following said blog) drops everything, she flies over and gives him a new laptop. He mentions somehting along the lines of not realy wanting to live in a house because he cares deeply for nature. TL:DR For the especially lazy: Man finds a fish, falls to his knees upon recieving this grand gesture from the lords above and proceeds to fornicate furiosly until headlines are made.

Woah. Poor people aren't hopelessly lazy and have potential? Republican heads exploding. Leo is one epic guy. Society should work on helping people reach their potential, instead of confiscating their laptops and selling them.
This is an incredibly heartwarming thing to see, it's great to see someone willing to take the time to help a homeless man, let alone dedicate so much personal time and even money to help a great guy who's in a bad situation And it's great to see he took the coding lessons, knowledge is priceless
fucking fine since nobody is willing to actually summarise I'll do it and suck up the 6 minute viewing time for the rest of us man offers homeless environmentalist $100 dollars or laptop, books and code lessons. homeless guy takes the code lessons as man expected and uses them to create a ride sharing app to cut carbon emissions and costs. he was arrested for sleeping on a bench and authorites took his laptop as evidence, a google employee gave him a free computer to continue his career and finish the app.
You left out the other parts man. If you are going to summarise you gotta do it all.
One of my students I taught a few years back, brilliant kid. gifted by school standards and very obsessive when it came to learning about things, similar to Leo. His family became homeless (schools have programs to give assistance to families and students that are labeled as homeless/non permanent housing) and while you could see there was a change in him he was still just as positive and dedicated as the guy in the video. I really think this is an admiral idea and could be done to help many people who are unemployed as well as homeless but it does take a certain type of person to excel with such a gift.
Woah. Poor people aren't hopelessly lazy and have potential? Republican heads exploding.
He's pulling himself up by his bootstraps without government assistance because an enterprising private businessman could give him the opportunity unburdened by silly things like having to pay him. Democrat heads exploding.
You left out the other parts man. If you are going to summarise you gotta do it all.
whatd i miss
whatd i miss
The emotional stuff.
Fine. . .if you assholes aren't going to give a real summary, I guess I'll do it. A man approached a homeless guy with a broken Commodore 64. The homeless man then broke the screen, shit inside the monitor, and used it to brew jenkum. After inhaling the fumes, the man ripped off his clothing, smeared his body with feces, and began raping every animal in his path, until police tackled him. He later hung himself in prison, an apparent failed autoerotic asphyxiation. The man who gave him the computer chuckled, and said "Yup, that's pretty much exactly what I expected." There. Now you have an accurate summary.
