• Hanging flags out of windows too intimidating - local housing association to ban them

Flags and banners in council tenants' windows could be banned because they "sully" the area, a Hertfordshire housing group says. Welwyn and Hatfield Community Housing Trust said its new tenancy agreements may include the policy as flags could be "intimidating". "Flags can be intimidating and can create a negative feeling." I don't like them, but banning them is ridiculous.
I don't like them, but banning them is ridiculous.
I'm nodachi and I'm trying to make a moral outrage over nothing again.
This has been standard Housing Trust faire for decades. You don't display political or national shit in homes you don't even own. This is just the Daily Mail trying to whip up some moral outrage over nothing again.
But it's the BBC
But it's the BBC
i've been welped right in the zinger
If you are so worried about not creating negative feelings, why are you creating negative feelings for the people who will have to take down their flags?
that's the weirdest method of hanging a flag I've ever seen put them on poles, where they belong
muh feelings
A housing association, not the council. Misleading title.
Trust spokeswoman Simone Russell said: "There are properties that have big flags hanging outside and while we encourage it during events such as the Jubilee; at other times it sullies the look of the area," she said. She revealed the policy would say "tenants must not hang or fix signs, banners or flags on the outside of the property, outside windows or on balconies, without our permission". It means residents can ask to hang a flag up for special occasions.
it doesn't sound so unreasonable. As I tried to say above, it does sound like pretty standard housing trust policies.
Flegs? You should check out Northern Ireland's opinion on banning flegs.
Who are they intimidating? How are they intimidating?
Who are they intimidating? How are they intimidating?
I feel THREATENED by these flags!!!
aren't flags usually hanged below so they fall over outside in the bulding wall? like this instead of hanging them like courtains, because that looks incredibly silly, and they really create a negative feeling lol of i want to puke
Not that I find it "intimidating" but I do find it a little strange. Kind of makes me think "Regime" right off the bat rather than "Patriotism". I don't think it should be banned though. That's just silly.
I thought the idea of flags was supposed to be the opposite - to encourage morale and union. If you don't like the fucking flag, get out of the fucking country.
Who are they intimidating? How are they intimidating?
Probably because of all the anti-muslim stuff that's been happening, hanging a flag out of your window for no reason could look like you're supporting it
Are housing groups the UK equivalent of Home Owner's Associations?
Probably because of all the anti-muslim stuff that's been happening, hanging a flag out of your window for no reason could look like you're supporting it
Is it at all possible they were just celebrating national pride, or is anyone that likes their country enough to hang a flag out a nationalist psycho?
You know your in a council estate in England when you see a tatty saint georges cross hanging out a closed window in the rain.
I thought the idea of flags was supposed to be the opposite - to encourage morale and union. If you don't like the fucking flag, get out of the fucking country.
Erm its probably because the Housing Trust doesn't want their property looking like it belongs on a run down council estate than anything to do with migrants.
oh come ON
Are housing groups the UK equivalent of Home Owner's Associations?
They provide housing owned by the council (local government) to people who can't afford to rent or buy elsewhere.
that's the weirdest method of hanging a flag I've ever seen put them on poles, where they belong
Everything you just said is retarded.
Probably trying to appease the foreigners.

I think they look cheap and nasty but that's no reason to ban them.
They look nothing more than silly and cute when hung from the windows of a flat. If you want intimidating or "negative feeling conjuring", talk to a Nazi or a Red.
Probably trying to appease the foreigners.
Don't you have your own country to try and ethnically cleanse or something?
