Yeah, I'm really doubting how much of a solution this is for some. Some of the comments here praise Israel for this, and as nice a thing it is to do compared to just slamming them in the shutter and calling it 'dealt with', there's been several cases of people outright being killed the moment they come back to their home country because they were hunted for whatever reason. I remember reading something like that, it happened as early as late 2010 or so. It's difficult dealing with illegal immigrants because you don't know their backstory, and getting to know it takes a hell of a lot more time and money than some are willing to invest to ensure that the situation is getting properly dealt with.

They're being offer to take the money and a flight back home, or an indefinite stay in detention until such a time as they're allowed in (which may be never). Unfortunately for some that have taken the option given to them by Israel, it has only justified their reasons for seeking asylum.
