Dumb bot around Fp? - General

I see a lot of posts have dumb box, i think it's a bot. Any way to ban it? [highlight](User was banned for this post ("I found the source of all the dumb ratings, it was your dumb thread." - ventilated))[/highlight]

I haven't used the ratings in a while after this started up. I don't really care anymore.

Those "bots" are box spammers. They go into a thread and just scroll down the posts, rating box box box box box. I guess they think it's cute or something. And yeah, ratings don't mean shit anymore.

It's a script, there was a thread a few minutes ago, it rates posts that appear on the ticker. Who cares, ignore boxes anyways.

I'm fairly sure the bot was dealt with. Unless there's a new one, which I do believe their is. It's just you being dumb I guess.

Garry should make it so you can only rate a post every certain time span, or people can only rate if they have over 100 posts, or a combo of the two. EDIT: Or banned people can't rate.

Some script kiddie made a script (not browser-based) that uses a security hole in VB and/or the rating system, and several people are using it which is causing a minor DoS attack and the [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/box.png[/IMG] spam. I rest my case (should be pointing at the box). | | | V

If all else fails, rip it out entirely. These people spamming boxes should be reported to the authorities and IP banned. [/overreaction]
