I have a Dell Dimension E520. I am looking to make some upgrades to it. I can spend maybe $300 or so. Above that is pushing it. I don't know much about omputers as you can probably see. I don't need the best of the best stuff (all i'm gonna be playing on this is Garry's Mod or Starcraft.) The only thing changed is the hard drive and I have Windows 7 Ultimate on it.
Which Dell exactly? All prebuilt models have multiple configurations. I would go to Computer and look for something like properties or about this computer and tell us what you see. [editline]2nd December 2010[/editline] Anyway, here is a nice GPU/PSU setup for $90. I would save the rest for a better PC in the future (that you will build instead of buying from Dell, HP, etc.) or for something else since GMod and Starcraft aren't very demanding. This will only apply as long as your CPU isn't a Celeron or single core. I just my use this from time to time for things so I figured why not. Also I am not currently at the computer or have anyway of accessing it until tomorrow, but I know it is a dual core
I have Windows 7 Ultimate on it.
Why?

Probably with my setup you could run Crysis better than your laptop (depending on resolution). You said you don't know much about PCs, so just post here for any more questions on the actual upgrading and installation process.
