Washington (CNN) -- House Democrats voted Wednesday to make Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, their leader for the 112th Congress, overcoming objections from moderates who argued that she was partly responsible for the party's overwhelming defeat at the polls two weeks ago.
Republicans, who won a net gain of at least 61 seats in the elections, will control the House next year. They unanimously chose to be led once again by veteran Ohio Rep. John Boehner, now in line to inherit the speaker's gavel from Pelosi.
Pelosi turned back a challenge from North Carolina Rep. Heath Shuler, a member of the party's diminished centrist "Blue Dog" faction, in a 150-43 vote. The speaker -- now set to be House minority leader in January -- retained the solid support of party liberals, who have noted her fundraising prowess and past ability to lead congressional Democrats to power, among other things.
An earlier motion to delay the Democratic leadership vote until December 8 was easily defeated in a 68-129 vote. Some rank-and-file members were seeking more time to "fully understand the causes of our historic losses" in the midterm elections, according to the resolution.
One senior Democratic aide called support for the resolution "a proxy vote" against Pelosi.
Addressing reporters after her election, Pelosi said the message Democrats got on Election Day is that people "want jobs." Chalking up Democratic losses to the 9.6 unemployment rate, she said Democrats would "strive to work together, wherever possible, in a bipartisan way" on both job creation and deficit reduction.
WHY?
Why not? She was the main person, besides Obama, in getting the Healthcare Legislation passed.
I'm not sure if people here are going to consider this a good thing or a bad thing. On the one hand, she's still the democratic leader in the House. On the other hand, Conservative Talk show hosts were hoping she would stay the democratic leader in order to help differentiate the Liberals from the Conservatives.
Well she is the only democrat with any balls.
Thank goodness.
She stood up to the fucks who use her as an easy target, good for her.
I don't know why people want their representatives to change their mind and flush all their work down the toilette every two years, no wonder nothing ever get's done.

I know this, having seen many 'shops in my time.
Pfft, there goes any chance of bipartisanship in congress.

Can I see that in the context of the speech?
I came into this hoping it would be a badage boys thread.

It's not like it was there beforehand.
I hate Nancy Pelosi and George Soros on the same level, they should die slow, agonizingly painful deaths.

Why?

Do some research, you'll find everything you need to know. Educate yourself.

the point she was making is clear despite the video attempting to take it out of context

Good way to argue, not how arguments work at all though.

Not trying to start an argument, too much of that going around already.
Do some research, you'll find everything you need to know. Educate yourself.
Welp I did some researching and I didn't find anything wrong with her.
Not trying to start an argument, too much of that going around already.
Then why post such inflammatory garbage?
Not trying to start an argument, too much of that going around already.
You're not starting an argument because you genuinely don't know why Pelosi is bad, you just don't like her because of the SOCIALIST OBAMACARE that you don't even understand.
Or, you don't like her because she isn't in the GOP.
Then why post such inflammatory garbage?
Inflammatory? I don't want to fight.
Inflammatory? I don't want to fight.
Saying you want a public official to die is kinda inflammatory

You have no actual ideas, so stop wasting everyone's time.
Oh, and when you turn 18 in 6 years, do us all a favor and stay away from the polls.
