An eerie recording of a radio interview has been released showing Adam Lanza in a softly-spoken rant about mass murder a year before he shot dead 20 children and six staff members at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. An investigation has found the crazed 20-year-old responsible for one of the US's worst massacres made a call to an Oregon college radio station and gave an interview that "waved a giant red flag that he was about to explode" almost exactly a year before he did, New York Daily News reported. Using the name Greg and speaking in a robotic and soft voice to disguise his true tone, Lanza spoke to the radio show about mass murder by comparing "a teenage mall shooter" to an infamous chimpanzee named Travis that ripped the face off a woman in 2009. Lanza said the attack by the chimp, which was domesticated from when it was young, was not a random act that could not occur in humans. "His attack can be seen entirely parallel to the attacks and random acts of violence that you bring up on your show every week, committed by humans, which the mainstream also has no explanation," Lanza says of Travis. "I just ... don’t think it would be such a stretch to say that he very well could have been a teenage mall shooter or something like that." Too Bad, that he also contributed to this Mainstream. The Media gives attension to the Shooters, which makes them money. => The Shooters want the Attension. =>The Shooters act.=> Repeat.
Not so sure the shooters choosing to act at a certain random moment has anything to do with attention being given to past incidents (though i'm probably wrong here). In the case of school shooting incidents it's probably more like the shooter is constantly given shit and can't seem to get any real help from anyone before they finally reach their own unique limit, and then however many days later they finally act. Basically you can't say it's all due to past incidents that the media decided to capitalize on like it was inspiring the next shooter to come along. When something like that happens it's probably completely based on when that particular person reaches their limit and they just can't handle it anymore, meaning this stuff can happen at any time.
It doesn't help when the media capitalises on it on 24/7, that sort of thing can only build towards something. It depends on exposure. I certainly wouldn't say that its the Catalyst by no means. It certainly provides a incentive, because it builds the whole idea that it will get you fame, helicopter coverage,Presidential Speech and ectra. It does happen even outside of teenager shootings, it can happen with normal shootouts, with Raoul Moat in the UK for example. Glorifying the shootings by focusing so intently on them isn't good, it can only have a negative effect.
There's tons of different factors, I don't know why everyone here always just jumps on the media factor like it's the most important thing in the world. That's such a stupidly skewed take on the matter.
