Alrighty.
This is my first build ever. I have decided to build a new PC after the ancient family one's lifetime came to an end.
So basically. My budget is £300-£450, My main use for this is programming, casual gaming (Terraria, Gmod, CS:GO?) and general use. I want this PC to be expandable and have some degree of future-proofing, however, i do not need too many peripherals (WiFi card only, I barely use optical drives). I will also need a large hard-drive, as this PC will be used by the rest of the family, who seem to know barely anything about deleting old files, and it will need to have enough room for me to dual-boot a linux distro.
Due to the money constraints. I have decided it will be a good idea to invest money into a PSU, CPU and Processor mainly. I am looking at a CPU with an FM2+ socket (since i hope to upgrade over time, i don't want to become tethered to the cheaper AM3+ by AMD).
So. Anyone know of where i should start, where i should definately not skimp out, and generally, which parts i should get?
(EDIT: http://www.novatech.co.uk/barebonebundles/view/bb-66004c.html Would a barebones bundle like this be a good investment? Or is there better packages for cheaper?)
-Thanks, Vesp
Or if you want something that's pretty good for casual gaming from the get go:

That looks like an awesome setup lol. I heard AMD might be better at this price range though. In general, how true is this? I've seen some debates, but usually, this is by fanboys for one side or the other

AMD draws more power, which usually means you will need to compensate that by having a bit more powerful PSU.

The FM2 AX CPU's are really weak, most people who recommend them just look at the number of cores and the clock frequencies and go "Wow, they must be really fast for being so cheap", although even a CPU such as the Intel Pentium G3220 at the same price point beats them in many cases
And yeah, they consume more power
And if you get an FM2 system you're also locked to using low-tier processors, with the Intel H97-chipset system you can upgrade to a more powerful i5, or, if the need for more threads arises, i7 processor
Spend like 15 pounds more on the power supply and you'll also be able to put a really powerful graphics card into the system in the future (The VP450 only has one 6+2 pin powerconnector)

Yes, much better choice for only 7 pounds more:
